2008 Volvo XC90 - It's not great, but it is
Regarding the XC-90, I really liked the sense of safety you get with the vehicle. It is stable, heavy, comfortable on long drives, convenient, and excellent in winter weather. The space in the XC 90 is significant and with all the seats down; the payload is huge. I'm a skier, a biker, and a fisherman, and this car took good care of me.
Story
This has been the dream ski car. Every weekend it is the opening venue for a fantastic day on the slopes.
Pros
The best feature of the XC 90 has to be the winter weather driving. I live in a cold part of the western US and drive a lot in snow, ice, and rain. I never lost control, never felt like I couldn't make it out of deep drifts, and always felt in control.
Cons
This is not the smoothest riding or sportiest of cars. It's bigger than most SUVs and drives bigger. I've had a CRV, and the Volvo is not as nimble or quick on the turns. It doesn't feel mid-sized in the way you want it to.
