The car was stylish, ran smoothly, and handled very well in Maine's crazy weather. It was very roomy, with plenty of space for storage and people of course! If it were not for all of the mechanical issues, I would love to be able to keep this car on the road longer. It was a great family car, but was also a great car for a single person like me.
Story
It was nice to drive back and forth to work in. The heated seats were great when I wasn't feeling well or had cramps. It was like having a heating pad built into the car. I liked going to the fireworks in this car, because there was place to sit in the back and keep a cooler. There was plenty of room to travel with my family.
Pros
The car has a nice interior, and was very comfortable. The heated seats were a nice plus. The extra seat adjustments were great, especially the lumbar support adjustment. The exterior was stylish for the time, and held up over time. Didn't have to do a lot of body work, which was nice. And it handled well on the snow and ice, which made it perfect for Maine winters. The sun roof was perfect in the summer, and it was nice that it had a sliding door thing to block it off when not in use.
Cons
The car had a LOT of mechanical issues. Between the break issues, radiator issues, and engine issues, it was just too much. In the end, the recent estimated cost of repairs to get it back on the road totaled over $3000. It was a fuel guzzler too, which stinks with gas prices now.

2005 Volvo V50 - Excellent value Volvo!

I love my Volvo V50 for many reasons. It feels quite sporty to drive while very safe. It performs very well on everyday commutes as well as long road trips. I get decent gas mileage on the highway and especially when using cruise control.
Story
I remember growing up and riding in the passenger seat with my dad driving and listening to Car Talk on NPR.
Pros
My Volvo V50 is the perfect size for transporting multiple musical instruments and passengers, as I am a musician who has to drive a good bit. I also like how I feel very safe, especially on the busy Atlanta highways full of reckless drivers. I enjoy the fact that it has a leather interior, and the seat is positioned at a very comfortable distance for me. I like that it's not too low to the ground but not high up like an SUV.
Cons
Unfortunately, the maintenance on a Volvo is more expensive than other cars since it is European. Since my car is approaching 180,000 miles, I have to be very careful to keep it in good shape. Though I recently replaced tires and a left rear hub joint, I know that my timing belt only has a few 10,000 miles left before it will no longer function properly. I also have to put middle-grade gasoline in my car, as that is what was recommended back when we purchased it.
