2004 Volvo S60 - It fits my personality, sleek, unexpected speed.
Volvo has produced an excellent car in the S60 T5. It has performance, reliability, looks, safety, and value in an European sedan. Furthermore, our dealer treats us like royalty when we come in for service. This was my first vehicle and is still maintaining very well. I not a fan of the expense of maintenance on the car but who is. Considering my first car was a luxury car, I guess I can say it was and still is worth it. My first issue with my car wasn't until 4 years ago meanwhile I purchased the car with 6 years under its belt.
Story
Long car rides with my niece and nephew on auntie duties used to get me anxious. I still remember the time when we drove 20-hours to get to Killeen. My niece was 12 and the nephew was 2 years old. We drove at night thinking that it would be easier, but those two refused to sleep. We were exhausted. Aunties know that even shorter rides of an hour or two can be just as tiring and frustrating. Cons
Cost of maintenance, limited rear view visibility, compact trunk and legroom.
2014 Volvo S60 - Best starter car
It was one of the best cars I owned and had a very premium body and interiors. As I was a new driver at that time, I gave more importance to safety ratings. Volvo has 5/5 safety ratings so it was a best choice.
The color was also very elegant and stylish looking. Very durable car with good resale value.
Story
In the first few months we bought this car, me and my husband went for a road trip to Smoky Mountains to watch fall colors. It was a lifetime remembering trip as we had gotten married just one month before and explored ourselves a lot when traveling in our new car. We met several new people like hikers, campers in the Appalachian trail and understood the hiking life.
Pros
Fully safe and crash protection with airbags from all directions. Good leg space both front and back seats. Powerful steering and ABS at 30 mph speed keeping driver safe in urban traffic with very advanced suspension system. Sport mode for the racer in you to feel the adrenaline. Amazing sound system with surround base and fine tuning.
Cons
No media system screen, back-up camera or blind spot detection, which most high-end cars had as base model. Very expensive parts once warranty period is crossed. Wheel issue with steering orientation and alignment. Fuel consumption is more with not very economical mileage. Not enough trunk space and hence not suitable for long distances and heavy baggage, or for attaching camper trails.
