2012 Volkswagen Tiguan - Great family upgrade.
My wife and I were looking to replace a VW Beetle because we were expecting children. So, the Tiguan turned out to be the best transition from sporty little car to cross-over. We felt that Tiguan drove like the Beetle but had much more room for our children. It's sporty, spacey, and works well in winter. It also can lug enough electric scooters for my contracting work of charging ride-share scooters.
My wife likes that it is bigger than a normal sedan but smaller and more efficient than a large SUV.
The price was also very attractive. Reasonable value.
Story
Watching the kids get a kick out of going under a tunnel in Minneapolis. Because of the sunroof, the kids had a very large viewing angle to see the tunnel all around them.
Pros
Big panoramic sunroof. Turbo charged engine gives it a good boost in speed. Fits two car seats with no problems. Fits electric scooters for hauling them to charging stations. Has heated seats and remote starter. Handles really well, especially in the winter. I can feel the road below me, which I like. Bluetooth compatible.
Cons
Takes premium gas, making filling it up more expensive than I would like. Color choices were a bit limited. This car did not have radio and cruise control controls on the steering wheel.
2012 Volkswagen Tiguan - It is a basic car
It is a basic small SUV. It gets decent gas mileage, but there are no fancy bells and whistles. It does not drive as smooth as I would like, and at times, I get uncomfortable driving in it for an extended period of time
Story
I don't really have a fun memory of the car. If anything I taught my daughter to drive in the car, but that was more stressful than anything.
Pros
It drives well in bad weather. The car gets decent gas mileage. It's a decent car for commuting.
Cons
It is a bumpy drive and not smooth at all. The car is just very basic.
