Great driving dynamics, firm handling, spirited acceleration, strong brakes. Great creature comforts: heated seats, USB connection, Apple Car Play, panoramic moonroof, leatherette seating, power windows with one-touch, power locks, keyless entry and push button start. 4motion AWD handled like a dream in snow and rain.
Story
I brought it up to Lake Placid last February for a skip trip. 4motion AWD handled great, heated seats came in handy in 10-degree snowy weather. Car was comfortable during long six-hour drive from NYC to Lake Placid.
Pros
Peppy turbo-charged engine with nice driving dynamics. Think VW Golf on stilts: clean, high quality interior with easy to use uncluttered layout.
Cons
Slightly below average fuel economy (avg. 20-24 city; 28 highway). High price point compared to others in the segment (e.g. Rav4, CRV, Mazda CX5). Smaller trunk space than many competitors.

The Tiguan is a solid all-around car. Great interior finishes. Nice features. Pano sunroof. Keyless entry. Apple car play/Android auto. Peppy 200hp turbo four engine. Great handling (think Golf on stilts). Great driving dynamics. Had the car for three years 17k miles and not a single problem mechanically or otherwise. Trunk space bit on the small side.
Story
Drove to Lake Placid in a snow storm and also did a trip to upstate NY in the summer time.
Pros
Good handling. Solid suite of features. Peppy engine. Nice interior finishes.
Cons
No advanced safety features. Trunk space is on the small side. Subpar gas mileage.
