I loved my Tiguan the day I bought it, and I love it even more now, five years later. I bought it because it had the roominess of an SUV but handled and drove like a well-made sedan. The Tiguan is a four-cylinder vehicle that fools you into thinking it is packing a much bigger engine under the hood thanks to its turbo. Though technically a compact SUV, the interior never feels crowded and is capable of hauling five people plus luggage quite comfortably. Flip the seats down and make it two people, a couple of dogs and gear for the weekend.
Story
I needed a pretty tall ladder to be able to access my vaulted ceilings in my home. So, I went to the home improvement store and picked out a 14 footer. I had lots of curious onlookers slow or even stop in the parking lot to watch me load that baby up; pretty sure most of them would have put money on a fail. Nope. Pros
My favorite creature comforts include leather seats, a wonderful sound system, and a sun roof that goes on forever. Like, opens not only over the front seats, but continues over the second row seating. Add heated seats to the mix and you've got all the ingredients for a joyful ride. Mechanically reliable, I've had no issues with this vehicle that wouldn't be considered routine maintenance. Oh, did I mention the back-up camera, and a large screen for controlling all electronics? We're just starting to round out the list of wonderful features on this vehicle.
Cons
The bumpers are painted (over plastic), so those are prone to dings and chips. The vehicle is key-less entry and start, so I worry sometimes what might happen if the remote battery dies. Honestly, I love this car and would change very little about it, given the chance.

My VW Tiguan is a great little car. It a four wheel drive fun car. It has the quality of German engineering. Things are laid out very nicely on the dashboard. One gets high quality that is seen in US luxury cars with this VW. It has heated seats which are great on cold winter days. It has vent in the glove compartment that will keep a cold drink cold without the need of a ice chest. Having multiple cigarette receptacles in the driver and passenger seat allows the techie to have many electronic devices in use in this SUV.
Story
I love taking it to the beach and riding on the beach with it. It does great in the sand and can carry all the needs for a day at the beach. Adding a rack to it so that one can take surfboards, kayaks, or other sports is a must. The moon roof is great to ride around with it open. It makes it feel like a convertible.
Pros
It is quick to react. The Tiguan is more like a sports car than it is a SUV. Unlike other SUVs it is at a higher level in its class.
Cons
It lacks a third row of seats in the back to take more people. I believe VW is adding this in the future models. The gas mileage could be improved as it is not a high performer in MPG.
