When we first purchased this minivan, it was one of the best ones that fit not only in our budget but our criteria! We had looked at a few other options, but I knew how much I liked the VW brand! It had low mileage (61,000) when we got it. It had a moon roof and dual DVD players for our children. Plenty of room for all of us to be comfortable. Absolutely nothing wrong with it!
Story
This was our first vehicle we have taken on a long vacation out of state. And it was our vehicle to bring our fourth child home from the hospital in!
Pros
I loved the fact it was silver and didn't show dirt as easily. It didn't have leather interior, but a very nice gray cloth with a print. It has a moon roof/sunroof, dual DVD players, back-up camera, very nice CD player, automatic lift gate, and dual-sliding doors.
Cons
We have had to replace a few major things out of pocket, even though we paid for the extended warranty. VW did cover the ignition system, as it was on a recall. We should have looked into this year of vehicle a bit better.

The Volkswagen Routan and I have a love/hate relationship. We love the vehicle because it's spacious, has a lot of storage, third row seating and television/headphone technology for the kids. We dislike this vehicle because of the faulty and cheap wiring, and the expense to fix things. Nobody wants to fix anything because it's basically a Dodge Caravan with upgrades.
Story
We love taking our van to the beaches that you can drive on and open up the back to sit. Everything you need is in close proximity because of the space.
Pros
Spacious, lots of storage space, comfortable and technology. A plus for the technology for instance, would be 2 TV's, third row folding seating which is super convenient. The doors and back door open by the keyless entry as well as it turns over by the key as well. My wife says in this aspect it's a "Mother's dream".
Cons
The expense to fix the car! Nobody wants to touch it but the dealer and the Volkswagen dealers here want your first born as down payment. The faulty wiring, we were having problems with the lights coming on and off, wipers as well, and the doors opening and closing while we were going down the highway because of a rear seat module. A wire gone bad, that made our van go completely haywire.
