I love my VW Passat! I have a 6 month old, and there is more than enough room in the car for his car seat in the backseat plus 4 large adults to sit comfortably. I drove over 500miles for work and didn't need to fill up until nearly 600miles.
Story
Recently we traveled to Orlando for a family vacation. We were able to fit 4 extra large adults and an infant car seat all in the VW Passat, along with all our luggage for a week long stay. It was a fantastic journey that we were able to take as a family. Pros
The trunk is huge! I was able to fit a pack n play, jogging stroller, plus 3 large suitcases and still had room while on a family vacation. Living in South Florida it is such a blessing to have a/c vents in the backseat, it really allows for the back to cool down quickly without blasting away the front seat. The insulation in the car keeps out the outside noise on all roads at all different speeds, which helps when trying to have a conversation with another car passenger and not having to scream to them.
Cons
One con I have is that the VW Passat switches automatically to Bluetooth connectivity while turning the car on, even when the Bluetooth isn't playing music or a phone call. The backseat cupholders are hidden, but if I have the car seat in the middle of the backseat those cup holders are no accessible to other passengers.

The very first car I ever owned was a used 1997 Passat. When I brought the car in 2003 it had approx. 96 Thousand miles on it. I knew the engine well and knew that it was an easy engine to work on. As time went on it proved its worth time and again. I never had a major repair to the engine or drive train that I could not handle on my own. I appreciated all the little extras that came with the car as well. I was always able to move in and out of my dorms with just one car load. It was a great car for road trips as well. In the time that I had the car I put an additional 180 thousand miles on it before giving it to my little brother as his first car. So in the five years that the car was in our family it saw 2 owners and 220 thousand plus miles.
Story
We lived in Florida's gulf coast at the time so it was common on weekends to be going to the beach with family, windows down music turned up, and wind in our hair.
Pros
Roomie interior, large trunk space, great gas mileage, dependable, safe, quite, smooth drive, work horse
Cons
Poorly designed exhaust system, paint started to fade after about 5 years however living in Florida that is common, 2 A/C leaks repaired, low to the ground, not meant for people over 5 foot 10 inches tall, low ceilings, poor quality factory sound system needed an upgrade

This dealer had exactly the car I was looking for. I wanted a basic Jetta, without all the bells and whistles that can make it so expensive, I don't need a rear view camera. This dealer had a great selection of pre-owned cars with low mileage that I could afford.
