This car was purchased used with 170k miles on it as an interim car (that became permanent), so take that into account. Despite some initial problems, the car has been relatively reliable for its age. I've been driving it for almost three years. Comfort, performance, and mileage are acceptable. Maintenance has been a little above average, with electronic problems (some unresolved) at the top of the list. Slightly roomier than the average compact car. Most controls still work, some hard-to access lights have failed and the glove compartment and center console are cheap junk. For self-maintainers, the engine is relatively easy to access and well-designed (1.8L Turbo). Roomy trunk with little facility for tying down objects. Replacement mirror controls blow a fusible link behind the fuse ... (more)
Story
I was abandoned three times in three days in three parking lots because the mirror controls blow not a fuse, but a hidden fusible link behind the fuse box.
Pros
Cheap. Roomy. Good engine and manual transmission.
Cons
Electronics problems, more electronics problems, traction never great.

2006 Volkswagen Passat - Not the most functional car

The quality of this car is great, but it is not functional in that the parts for it are either too difficult to find or rather expensive. My husband is a mechanic, and he has struggled to fix the car when it breaks down, and not only that, but he always encounters problems. It has been a nightmare to own and has broken down on us a couple of times. What I do like about it, however, is the design. It is rather sleek and a low maintenance color that we have enjoyed.
Story
This is the car we had when we got our dog Piper, and it is perfect to move our two dogs around in.
Pros
I like how the car is built over all. I don't know much about cars, but every part of the car seems to be very sturdy despite the use we get out of it, and not much of the outside has deteriorated. Also, when you are driving on the highway, you can't hear many outside noises. It makes it so that you don't feel like you're going 60-70 miles per hour. Also, the style of it is not too bad looking. New, I'm sure it was not a bad looking car.
Cons
The fuel economy of this car is not the best. There are many other cars that have a much better fuel economy and are also more reliable. Also, because it has broken down on us a couple times, it is not the most reliable when you are trying to commute back and forth to work in California. Another negative is that the fixing of the car has been a hassle, and it is because Volkswagen builds its cars to only last a couple years just to be replaced. This is not convenient for people like us that like to save money.

I was recommended this dealership from a friend when I mentioned I wanted to buy my wife a car. It was very quick and easy to make the purchase. I did not feel pressured at all. I was able to show up and browse on my own, leave with out being hassled, and then return to purchase the car.
