2006 Volkswagen Passat - Sturdy, safe, powerful truck. Decent

Overall, it's a pretty great truck. It's sturdy, well built, and with decent gas mileage. I'd have to say that the only thing I really don't like about it is how cheap the interior is. It's cheaply made, and it breaks pretty quick. I don't mind too much because the truck is sturdy, performs well in the long, cold winter. Not to mention that you save money by switching to E-85 whenever you want.
Story
Best story is I have never gotten stuck in the snow in the winter. People who live in cold climate can relate to this, it's very hazardous and troublesome to get your car or truck stuck in snow in the winter, not the case with this truck!
Pros
Best quality is the ability to switch to E-85, as its much cheaper than gasoline, since this is a big truck, it takes more to fill it up. It's very strong and sturdy, less worry if ever in a crash. Very powerful engine, this particular model is made for towing. Also, performs very well in snow. Very easy to work on, all parts on it are very accessible. One thing about it is the car parts are inexpensive compared to foreign brands, so that's always a plus.
Cons
Interior is cheaply made, breaks pretty quickly. It does consume a lot of gas, so be prepared to expect to pay a bit at the pump. There seems to be a common problem of the ball joints messing up in this model. Nothing expensive, just a bit of a hassle to deal with.

The car performs very well when it is in good operating condition. It is not difficult to keep it this way, just fairly expensive based on the car type. If you keep it in good operating condition it is a great car.
Story
Who can forget driving down Lake Shore Drive at 70 or so worrying about tickets, while other drivers are going by so fast you can't tell what color their car is.
Pros
The car drives very nicely - good combination of comfort and zip.
Cons
Maintenance. This seems to be the crux of the issue. If you end up doing minimal additional maintenance you'll love it. If you don't, well, it'll go from you like it some to you wish you'd never seen it.

My parents bought my me first car, a VW Passat, from D'arcy when I was in high school. Even when I lived in another state, I came back to D'arcy for my next vehicle, a VW Touareg, and when I upgraded to a newer Touareg. I have always received excellent service and never felt like they were trying to trick me or pull the wool over my eyes. Honesty and straightforwardness is what I want from any salesperson, and D'arcy's staff is just that, in my experience. I also appreciate that they will give a loaner vehicle for something as simple as dropping off my car for an oil change.
