I’ve always liked Slug Bugs. Having one was my dream car since I was in middle school, and then I finally got one. I’m not a car girl: I don’t care about specs or speed; I want my car to be safe and work. The fact the car is awesome looking is the added bonus. I’ve had problems with it about once a year, mostly electrical. But it goes when I tell it to go, and gets me where I need to go.
Story
Driving back and forth to college singing along to my CDs.
Pros
It gets good gas mileage, about 32 miles per gallon. For being a tiny car, which is a good thing in my book, it is actually pretty good for tall people because the roof is tall. It's cute. It's one of the only girly looking cars, and maybe that's a negative for some people, but it's positive for me. It runs well. I haven't had a serious mechanical problem with it.
Cons
The electrical problems have mostly been with the headlights (loose socket) and the windows. My car is a convertible, and whenever you open or close the door the windows tuck themselves under the canvas roof. When that feature breaks, it’s annoying. Also, passengers always thinking the door is locked because you have to hold the handle for a second before it lowers the window to open the door. There is no room in the back seat and the trunk is tiny. I had a roommate call it a “second glove box,” and I can’t say she was inaccurate.

This car is very reliable, which is a good thing because when something does go wrong, it's very expensive to replace. That being said, it rarely happens. Gas mileage is acceptable and it's roomier than you'd expect. All in all, a good car for the price.
Story
Despite how small they look on the outside, they're really quite roomy. I just managed to cram an entire porch bench in the back and make it home with no problems.
Pros
Inexpensive (comparatively) Reliable Good gas mileage Comfortable
Cons
Parts are expensive Moving the seats back in not automatic

This car is reminiscent of my first car, a 1965 Beetle. It's quite a change from the four Nissan Maximas that I have owned in the past in size, economy, extras, and speed. I'm enjoying the Beetle immensely, and I'm happy that I decided to take owning it off of my bucket list.
Story
I was stopped by a state police officer a week after i got my new car for going 43 miles an hour through a (very wide) 15 mph toll lane. In massachusetts, state troopers are very no-nonsense, so i figured I'd get hit with a hefty fine. However, after checking my license and registration he told me he was going to give me a warning because he liked my car. he added that he was a little disap... (more)
Pros
There have been ZERO mechanical issues. It's extremely economical on gas. It's very appealing to the eye--white with beige interior and convertible roof. It's easy to maneuver in traffic and parking. The convertible top is enjoyable when it's open. It only needs service every 10,000 miles. The roof is a pleasure to operate, opening and closing with a push of a button. The service department is heaven compared with Nissan's.
Cons
The visibility is not as good as I would like, owing to the small rear window and small rear view mirror. Having previously owned Nissan Maximas, I miss some of the extra amenities that luxury vehicles have, most notably: heated steering wheel; automatic (electronic? not sure of the word here) seat adjustment; Bose sound system. The Heater-A/C is not as strong/quick-acting as I'd like.
