1998 Volkswagen Jetta - Gets the job done
Whenever I drove my old VW Jetta it got me where I needed to go. Fast, reliable, and comfortable, there were no qualms about the car whatsoever. While it did not look like the most sportiest car, that is something I do not care much about. All that mattered was that it was a great car which had done me the service of helping me move along in life.
Story
My family and I had many great trips on the US highways driving around on vacations.
Pros
Fuel efficiency was cost-effective compared to other cars at my time of purchase. Sturdy and serviceable, Not much maintenance cost required for what I experienced, Good aerodynamic design.
Cons
Not the sportiest looking car, VW may not be everyone's cup of tea. There are other good competitors out there that may outshine this vehicle. Design of the car is up to the customer's preference and discretion and may not be for everyone.
2004 Volkswagen Jetta -
I was initially drawn to the style of the vehicle and the gas mileage that it would get. I liked and still like the quality of the interior of the vehicle. The molded plastic that the dash, door panels, etc. are made out of is heavier than in other vehicles, and so it doesn't rattle or sound hollow when I'm driving.
Story
I have owned the vehicle for about twelve years, and numerous people have commented that the interior smells like crayons. I recently had work done on the brakes, and the technician sheepishly asked me if I had ever noticed that it smelled like crayons. When I told him it was a running joke, he actually was able tell me that this particular vehicle has some kind of epoxy under the trunk lini... (more)
Pros
I think my favorite feature of the vehicle has always been the power that it has. Despite being a four-cylinder engine, even when I run the A/C in the summer, it doesn't hesitate when I push on the gas. I have also always liked that the lights in the car (the dash lights; speedometer, gas gauge, etc.) are mostly blue when on at night instead of the normal red and yellow, and I have always found them less harsh/distracting.
Cons
It is a smaller car. You can't really haul much around with you, and if you install a front facing car seat in the backseat, there is not much leg room for the child who rides in it. Despite having a large trunk and the backseat flipping down, due to the size/shape of the trunk opening, it is difficult to fit anything very large inside the vehicle.
