2012 Volkswagen Golf - Sporty but mediocre driving experience
The 2012 VW GTI has an appealing, eye-catching look, but proves a frustrating, erratic driving experience and is ultimately a poor value proposition. Although superficially attractive, the vehicle feels cheaply made the longer one drives it. I have owned and leased a wide variety of Volkswagen vehicles; Jettas, Golfs, Passats, and a CC -- and I am typically very happy, but the VW GTI is unsatisfactory and compares unfavorably to other VW models.
Story
I rented a house in the desert for the weekend, only to discover that the GTI could not handle the rocky, unpaved road leading to the driveway. I had to return home and rent a car to take back to the property.
Pros
The vehicle has a sleek, sporty design and an attractive interior. The audio system is fantastic with great sound quality.
Cons
The battery died shortly after purchase, without explanation, and had to be replaced. Gas mileage is not very good for such a small car. Trunk space is extremely limited. Poor acceleration makes for a harrowing experience when navigating left turns at crowded intersections.
More importantly, the vehicle's suspension is erratic -- the car slips and slides when making medium-speed turns on an incline. The vehicle is low to the ground and routinely scrapes against the pavement. I like to drive to the desert and through the mountains and I am uncomfortable doing so in this vehicle.
2000 Volkswagen Golf - Powerful
I have had my VW Golf for 3 years now and I still love driving it every day. The 1.8 T is more than adequate and the overall peppy feel of the ride makes my daily commute infinitely more fun than my previous car, a Corolla. The brakes are nice and sticky and the handling is tight with minimal roll.
Story
I had my tire popped on the highway and the spare went out too.
Pros
This car is a good drift car and it is good on gas. I use to drive it to work everyday. The gas mileage is excellent for the road, the parts are cheap to fix . The car looks nice to other people and it has a lot of room in the car.
Cons
One frustration I have is when my lamps burn out, it is very difficult to put in new lamps, especially the headlights. I hate having to go to a shop or dealer to get my lamps replaced. Maintenance costs have been a little high with the standard problems you see around 80,000 miles. My ABS system is on the fritz and replacing that will.

2006 Volkswagen Routan -
Proximity to my house and prices made this an easy choice for me when deciding to buy a vehicle.
2010 Volkswagen Jetta - Volkswagen Of Palm Springs Cathedral City
Was my first time purchasing a car from a dealership and they made the process stress free. They explained the process which was easily understood. They didn't try to haggle me or take an advantage of my inexperience with dealerships. Best of all is that i ended up paying far less then what my budget was without having to sacrifice quality or additional features with the vehicle
