I inherited the beetle from my mom. While it got me around town safely, it was not an ideal car to own. For starters it is small. My 6' 2" boyfriend struggled to fit in it comfortably. However, I was able to move out of my apartment using only the bug, thus fitting a bookcase and a twin mattress in it, but it took many trips to do so. The other major downside to this car is that it is expensive to fix and takes specific mechanics who work on foreign cars. It felt like all repairs (which I didn't even have that many) cost a lot more than they should have. My favorite thing about the car was the color, as I had bright blue, and it looked cute. I also liked the flower vase in it, but it is definitely not practical to keep fresh flowers in there all of the time. Overall, I would not buy th... (more)
Story
I don't have any fun memories, it was mainly used to get from one place to the other within town. I guess while my mom still owned the car we took a road trip to see our college basketball team compete in the NCAA champion. It was fun for the two of us to squeeze in the car and road trip it.
Pros
My favorite thing was the color as it was a gorgeous blue. I also liked the good gas mileage and the reliability. I didn't have many mechanical issues with it, and could depend on it to start and get me places safely.
Cons
It was expensive to maintain this car. It always needed specialty parts and specialized mechanics to get the job done. It was also small. Almost too small for my 6' 2" boyfriend.

This Volkswagen Beetle is an excellent car. It is 17 years old and drives smoothly and quietly. Gas mileage is great. There are no rattles. The car starts up every time, even in cold Wisconsin winters. The body of the car looks great and there is no rust.
Story
On an extremely cold Wisconsin early winter morning, the car started right up. And it's parked outside overnight. Lots of people's cars wouldn't start that day. The heater warmed it up immediately.
Pros
The reliability of the car is my top positive feeling about this car. It is extremely comfortable and pleasant to drive. It has a great sunroof. The air conditioning cools the car off quickly and the defroster works well. The heater works great and warms up the car quickly.
Cons
The top negative thing about this car is the cost of repairs. It is recommended to use actual Volkswagen parts and they are expensive. Not every auto repair shop will work on a foreign car.
