2003 Volkswagen Beetle - Favorite Car Ever
I absolutely love this vehicle. One of my favorite things is the way it rides. It is so smooth and quiet. You feel like you are silently gliding down the street. Sometimes I have to double check to make sure that it's on because you can barely hear anything. I also really like the exterior design of the Beetle - it's quirky and fun, but also smooth and refined, much like the interior! The interior electronics give the car a luxury feel, and the seats are made of quality materials and include seat heaters. It's one of the comfiest vehicles I have owned. It's a small car, but it's also pretty roomy on the inside -- kind of like the TARDIS from Doctor Who! I can easily fit myself, 4 friends, and our bags for a weekend trip, or if I'm headed to the vet's office, I can easily fit my entire ... (more)
Story
One of my favorite memories is cruising down the Causeway late at night crossing Mobile Bay. The windows were down, and the radio was off. The car doesn't make noise, so it was so peaceful. I felt like I wasn't disturbing the moment. I could also look at the stars through the roof, and it was so beautiful.
Pros
My favorite things about the vehicle are its extra technological features. I love opening up the sunroof during nice days, and I love having the option to make it a moonroof instead! I also love that I get a 6 CD changer and a tape deck that I can use to adapt my iPod. Another big perk about this car: heated seats! I can blast my favorite tunes with the sunroof open on a cool night and still be comfortable with just my heated seat.
Cons
The only things I really have to complain about with this vehicle is that, like many VWs and foreign autos, repair can be complicated. Many places aren't able to work on the car, and the ones that can always charge extra labor because it takes longer than other vehicles because of its design.
2008 Volkswagen Beetle - cute, but expensive to maintain; low gas mileage
I always wanted a Beetle as a kid, and when I got one as an adult, it felt like a dream come true. And the car is great in many ways: it's fun to drive, it's responsive, it seems well-made. However, maintenance can be a nightmare and a pain in the wallet. Oil changes have cost me anywhere from $60 to $100. Lights burn out quickly (always-on headlights), and have to be replaced often ($30 a pop in my experience). Replacing a battery requires the removal of the front fender, driving up the cost of that procedure considerably ($300 at Firestone). Doing your own maintenance is made difficult by the compact design and nontraditional (5 cylinder) and therefore unfamiliar engine. Most replacement parts are proprietary and expensive. Don't think you can go to AutoZone to get things like gas c... (more)

2009 Volkswagen Routan - Royal Gmc Birmingham
We received excellent care and service from the moment we walked onto the lot to when we drove away in our new van. The sales team was informative and very helpful in making this decision.
