2007 Toyota Yaris - Perfect Basic Transportation
This car is as absolutely basic as it gets. There are no power locks, power windows, and no entertainment system for its standard features. However, the car is amazing for cost saving measures. The Yaris gives unmeasured reliability in terms of getting you from A to B with no problems whatsoever. It gives an average of roughly 38 mpg and it's a car that's perfect for college students or first time car owners. The car is a great introduction to learning how to drive reliably and safely.
Story
Living in an area that has a lot of curves, I get to experience the peppiness of such a lightweight car. You can feel every turn and it makes the ride a bit more exhilarating.
Pros
There's very little that can break in this car.
It's a Toyota. Assuming you take care of basic things like motor oil, fuel filter and general maintenance, this car will last way too long.
Extremely cheap maintenance cost.
Plenty of space for passengers when riding.
Cons
The ride quality can be extremely bumpy.
Lack of ABS would lead to a dangerous ride in the winter.
Driving experience is quite boring.
Some parts of the vehicle take much longer in DIY repair time because of its space saving measures.
2009 Toyota Yaris - Reliable and Great Value
I love that I get 40 miles per gallon highway. I have had very little work done to my car. It has almost 80,000 miles and still runs great! I love that it's small, but still has space for everything I need when I go camping. I can even fit a bike in the back with the seats down! I can park it almost anywhere as it's so small!
Story
I once brought a full car (I thought) full of friends to the beach. At the end of a long day, we all climbed in to go home. It was then that I realized we had an extra person on the way home! My friend met a guy and he squeezed into the back seat!
Pros
Favorite features are: great gas mileage; small size; hatchback; multiple glove compartments; great visibility.
Cons
I wish the seat could adjust up and down, not just back and forth. It's also really difficult to change the battery for some reason. It's really squished in, and I feel it's more difficult than it needs to be.
