This car is great! It's really small so I can do a U-turn in the middle of the street if needed, and parallel parking is a breeze. The interior is very roomy, though, especially the trunk space. You can fold down the back seat for even more storage space. I also love the gas mileage. I can drive for two weeks on one tank of gas! I love that, being a Toyota, I can expect the car to last for a very long time and not have to worry about maintenance issues. For such a small car, there is a surprising amount of power. I frequently get up to 85 mph on the freeway before I realize how fast I'm going, and the driving is really smooth. The panels are all easy to read, and the controls are intuitive. One of the best details in the car are all the cup holders. There are a total of five cup holder... (more)
Story
My husband and I took this car on our honeymoon all the way to Las Vegas from Alabama. The car held all our luggage, including tent, cooler, and camping supplies, and we never had any mechanical problems along the way!
Pros
The best things about the car are definitely the small size, which is great if you don't have a bunch of kids to drive around. For me and my husband, it's the perfect size. We sit up front, and we can fit a couple of friends in the back seat, but normally, we just fold the back seat down so that we have extra storage space for luggage if we're going on a long trip. Even without the back seat folded down, there is plenty of space in the boot for groceries and suitcases and stuff. The car is small enough to make a complete 360 in the middle of a two-lane street, and parallel parking is super... (more)
Cons
The biggest downside to this car, and one of the reasons I almost didn't buy it is that the trim style that I bought doesn't have power windows. It is really a pain to have to roll the windows down manually, which means that I can't easily open the passenger windows if I need to talk to the car on my right side or if my dogs want to get some air. Another downside is that the back seat is pretty small. Normal-sized adults seem to have to squeeze in back there, but for kids, it has plenty of room. I usually don't use the back seat at all unless I need extra space for my groceries. Other than... (more)

I bought my Toyota Yaris in 2015 used. It had very low mileage on it, and the price I got it for was an amazing value. The Yaris in general has fantastic value due to Toyota using it as a loss leader, i.e., a car that the company doesn't really make any money off of but is there to build brand loyalty with customers. The engine is top of the line and has that famous Toyota quality of lasting hundreds of thousands of miles. While the Yaris is more barebones than most vehicles, it comes with everything a consumer will need and then a little bit extra, such as auxiliary outlets for your mobile devices. While the transmission isn't the strongest and the car needs a lot of room to kick up on the highway, these shortcomings are made up for in fuel economy and longevity.
Story
My brother and I took the car on a cross-country road trip the first year I had it, and we honestly beat the car into the ground, and it just kept on ticking. I was truly amazed by how the car lasted. Of course, this was summertime, so it was a little easier to take that thing on the road.
Pros
The first thing I got really into is how, at first glance, the car tricks you into thinking it's just a regular old subcompact with that traditional subcompact room, but inside, the car feels much more roomier than you initially think, complete with a fairly substantial hatchback. The longevity of the parts under the hood, specifically the strong Toyota engine, is also an attention grabber, and I believe it will keep me loyal to the Toyota brand. Although somewhat antiquated, the hydraulic brake pumps last a long time and usually require less general maintenance than standard modern brakin... (more)
Cons
The first drawback I ever noticed was taking it out on the highway, unlike most over subcompacts in the past five years, the Yaris does need more time to kick up to 60 on the highway, but once there, it is smooth sailing. There are also limits to my ranting and raving about the surprise roominess of the inside of the car as I've found myself unable to move certain things from time to time, so that may turn a prospective buyer away immediately. Obviously with the Yaris being a much smaller vehicle than most, you won't be going off-roading in this anytime soon, and that includes certain incl... (more)
