2015 Toyota Sienna - Toyota has my vote!
When I had my third child, we needed to upgrade to something larger and more practical for our family. We decided we needed a minivan, as vehicles with just third-row seating weren't enough for us. We decided to look at mainly Toyota and Honda. One of our top options was the Toyota Sienna and hopefully in the SE trim. We found one and then a comparable Honda minivan at a second dealership and tried them out. The Sienna far exceeded the Honda, in my opinion, with your bang for your buck and just overall appearance. We have had this over a year now and have not had a single issue. The vehicle had one prior owner but still had low mileage, but even with that, it looked brand new and has had no issues. It gets decent gas mileage for being a minivan—better than I expected. The look is great... (more)
Story
Right after purchased the car, we took a vacation to Colorado in the van. I was worried about taking off in a new vehicle I knew pretty much nothing about, but everything went smoothly. We were easily able to load everything we needed to, and all were extremely comfortable on the drive. We only had to stop and refuel once, which was a blessing as the prior year in our smaller SUV we had to mak... (more)
Pros
Appearance and features. Reliability.
2006 Toyota Sienna - A good, sound purchase
There's not much I dislike about this vehicle. It has almost 200,000 miles on it and we have done very few repairs; the service has just been routine maintenance items. We have a large family, so the cargo space has been one of the best aspects. We can pack all eight of us and have plenty of room for anything we need to take.
Story
We loaded 6 children in the car and took a beach trip 12 hours away. It was a great vehicle for a road trip.
Pros
We purchased this van because it is one of the few minivans that has an option for the 3rd seat in the second row. This allows us to have seating for eight passengers, where most minivans seat seven. Also, when we purchased this van we were fostering three kids under the age of four. This is the only vehicle we found that we could fit three car seats in the back row. This has made it a perfect vehicle for our family.
Cons
One thing I dislike is that the light panels in the back can be operated by the kids when the master switch is in the "on" position. To ensure they don't leave lights on, the master switch is set to "off" but then the lights don't turn on when the door is opened. Also, as the car has aged, we're having issues with the plastic curb guard on the front. It has become partially detached, and drags on the ground on occasion. This probably has more to do with use and age, rather than vehicle quality.
