2012 Toyota Sienna - The perfect family car
Visually compared to other minivans, this one can't be beat. It has softer curves in the body style, not harsh, bulky and dated like some of the others on the market. There is so much cargo space, with the ability to lay the seats down in the back for added space when needed- perfect for a family. The bucket seats in the middle row are perfect for our two kids- comfortable, with space between so no fighting for space or territory.
Story
In going to get my daughter from preschool, there came a full on deluge of rain. Pouring down. I was able to open the door of our van with a single button, pop her in, and jump in my seat. Given that the van is so spacious, I was able to move my seat back, turn around and buckle her in her car seat without standing out in the rain getting more and more drenched. So helpful! Pros
The space is the first obvious positive for our family. We travel far for holidays when visiting family, so it's nice to have all of that extra space. Our minivan also has a ridiculously large amount of storage space and cup holders everywhere! So easy to organize and have all that we may need in the car for a family (wipes, trash bags, changes of clothes, snack cups, etc.). Automatic back passenger doors are also awesome for loading kids quickly in the car.
Cons
The main negative that stands out to me about our van that I was not expecting is how low to the ground it is. We frequently misjudge the angles when pulling out from sloped drives, dips, speedbumps, etc., and find that we are constantly scraping the front undercarriage. So annoying! My other personal negative about it is the backup cam. I find that I don't ever use it. Newer models are so much more helpful with their guides, beeping, etc., giving you a better sense of where you're actually at. 2005 Toyota Sienna - Pleased with my Toyota Sienna.
I am pleased with this van. The steering is smooth. The size is convenient for my growing family. It's not too large and cumbersome but feels roomy inside. I like that it is easy to park. It gets good gas mileage for a van. Buying a used vehicle that is reliable is so much better than buying brand new. The price is better!
Story
We went on a family vacation in this van a few months ago. We took it to the beach and got some sand in it, but it was nice to have a good set of wheels to get there!
Pros
I have had good experiences with Toyotas. I knew I needed a bigger vehicle than the sedan I previously drove. I was particularly careful to choose a van with eight seats as opposed to seven. That means that instead of two captains chairs in the middle with a walking space between them, there is a full bench in the middle. I am glad that I was able to find an eight-seater, because the extra seat does come in handy for when I have more passengers.
Cons
One thing I wish I could change about it is the color of the exterior. It is a dark gray color. I prefer white for vehicles because of the heat of darker vehicles. Also, because of the eighth seat (that I preferred), it does make getting into the back seat a bit more challenging. I am happy to live with these negative things, though.
