2004 Toyota Sienna - Toyota is not the quality it used to be.
I was able to order my van from the factory through the dealership. I thought that portion was great and it was manufactured to my specifications with color, material, and accessories. I ordered the Aspen Green Pearl 2004 XLE LTD Toyota Sienna with tan leather seats, moon roof, and completed DVD system. I only ordered a Toyota because at the time of purchase it was rated #1 on Consumer reports for safety. The van was equipped with side cushion airbags, traction control etc. It also has rear fold down seats which was a great feature at the time. It served its purpose of transporting a military family around the country every 2 years. Space is important when moving. I was initially very pleased with the purchase. Within months I began having problems. It was sign of things to come. At 17...

At 175,000 miles I could have purchased another Toyota Sienna with the total cost I have spent to repair the vehicle not to mention I paid for a 100,000 mile 10 year platinum warranty.
The van as literally been from 1 end of this country to the other, but one specific memorable story where the van played a role was at Westport beach in Washington State. We frequently went to the beach with our very young kids, but due to the water temperatures you were just stuck looking for shells or playing in the sand. My husband had just returned from a deployment and we took the kids to the beach. I did not check the weather before we left. When we arrived a wind storm came in and was pelting sand at us. It actually stung when the sand hit you. Well the 3 year old was not interested in leaving until he built some sand castles. We used the van to block the wind, so he could build a sand castle. That was a fun moment.
I don't have a ton of positive things to say about the vehicle. I do like the rear fold down seats. I do like the safety features of the van. I do like the console between the front seats. I love the color. The front seats are comfortable.

The 1st row seats are uncomfortable for long van rides. The lower back portion of the seat protrudes outwards a tad bit that causes low back pain while riding. The radio went out on the van 3 times within the first year. When you go over bumps it has a tendency to tune into the AUX versus the radio. The heated front seats were inoperable by the 4th year of ownership and when they were repaired the hard plastic behind the seat kept falling off because they are secured to the seat by plastic clips that almost all broke during the repair. The heated front seats were inoperable by the 4th year of ownership and when they were repaired the hard plastic behind the seat kept falling off because they are secured to the seat by plastic clips that almost all broke during the repair. The interior is literally held together like a Lego with plastic clips that break all the time. I have spent the price of a new Sienna on repairs since the vehicle has hit 100,000 miles and it is only at 175,000. I have replaced the Power steering rack alone 2 times with only 40,000 miles between replacements which is not normal. I have replaced almost everything internally on the vehicle that I have never had to deal with on other high mileage vehicles. The electronic side door motors have burned out 4 times and cost well over $1,000 to repair, so that is a costly fix. The spare tire is actually underneath the van and you have to spin something to lower it to the ground which takes too long when you are on the side of the road. The Toyota quality of long life spans of vehicles is just not present. The van is also loud while driving on the interstate and the brakes have more play in them (even when brand new) than I am comfortable with. The DVD player has been a great feature and still works along with the headphones which is amazing. The moon roof has also (knock on wood) not had any leaks yet.
