My wife and I needed something that was A) spacious enough to accommodate our two dogs and the daughter that we were about to have. Neither of us are super knowledgeable about cars, so we wanted something reliable. We both tend to keep our vehicles for a long time, so we wanted something that would last. The RAV4 has more than exceeded our needs in all of these major areas.
Story
The first out of town trip I took was on a cabin weekend with several of my guy friends - it comfortably hauled 5 of us along with all of our stuff for the weekend. Definitely the most fun drive I've taken in the RAV4 as of yet!
Pros
We've taken a few trips with both of our dogs and our daughter, and have always had plenty of space. We like that there is an extra compartment under the main trunk that acts as storage space - other models we looked at use this space as spare tire storage, but we like that in the RAV4 you get a nice little chunk of extra storage space. Also, the gas mileage for a vehicle of this size isn't too bad - you can fill it up for about $40, and a full tank lasts us a little over an average week.
Cons
The model we bought does seem a little thin on extras - the dashboard instruments feel a tad cheap. There's a bit of a blind spot when changing lanes, but nothing too extreme.

The entire experience is very welcoming for buyers, especially if you're like me and you don't know a ton about cars or car buying. The facility is very spacious and brightly lit, and my wife and I were immediately greeted by several employees when we walked in the door. We never felt a lot of pressure to buy anything, and when we did finally come to a decision, our representative made the whole buying process very smooth and not scary.

We really liked this dealership because people are so nice there. From the time you walk in the door people are trying to serve you and they are not pushy. We also like that we can get our car serviced there.
