Toyota's RAV4 owns the distinction of being the first bite-size sport-utility vehicle. The RAV4 debuted in 1996 when most SUVs were still unwieldy, body-on-frame beasts. In contrast, the car-based Toyota was small and easy to drive. That it was shaped like a jelly bean hardly seemed to matter. With plenty of sales success behind it, it gave rise to a whole new segment of vehicles often called mini-utes or cute-utes. Like its modern-day competitors, the 2007 Toyota RAV4 isn't so mini anymore. It's still manageably sized and practical for city use, but now there's room for a V6 engine and a third-row seat -- features that would have been unimaginable in the original. During its last redesign in 2006, the vehicle saw the most dramatic changes of its decade-long history. Not only did this ... (more)
Story
Thanks to the rear-mounted spare tire with the flexible hard shell cover, I avoided major damage to my rear bumper -- someone reversed into my parked RAV -- hit the spare. Big dent to her Accord, minor scratch to tire cover -- did not want the insurance company pulling the rear door apart looking for damage so let it go. Viva the RAV!
Pros
A great ride. The acceleration will surprise you and handling to keep up .
Cons
Cruise control is too choppy. Too small for 3 adults and 2 kids. No 3rd row seats in ours. No aux in on stereo. Several recalls issued so far on this model. Tire pressure sensors failed.

2006 Toyota RAV4 - Great family car.

Purchasing this vehicle was a great idea; not only because I am planning on starting a family, but also because it is great for carpooling. I really like the whole "finish" of the vehicle from a sunroof to third-row seating this car has not disappointed me yet. Coming from an Audi, I was so used to being nickeled and dimed for every little thing when it came to maintenance, but with this Toyota I just change oil every 3000 miles. The Rav 4 has a lot of torque for a crossover SUV, and can really surprise anyone that is not expecting all the power that this beast packs. I have the Limited model which is supposed to be the "fancy" version and it sure does show it. I really love how my car has fabric seats instead of leather because it doesn't burn my bottom when I get in the car after bei... (more)
Story
We always take trips to our local amusement park here in NC, and I will never forget the day that all of our friends came to our house just so they could ride with us in the Rav 4.
Pros
I love the sunroof, and the ability to change the radio/volume from the steering wheel. It includes an aux input. Cheap upkeep as far as maintenance. It's a Toyota so you already know that these cars are made to last.
Cons
Gas mileage is not so great, but it is a v6 engine. Does look a bit like a "girl" car, but that v6 makes it a little more masculine.

Easy to work with and didn't waste my time haggling. I traded in my SUV and they gave me higher than market value for it.
