Toyota RAV4 Owner Ratings & Reviews

2006 Toyota RAV4 - Good overall value and performance.
My 2006 RAV4 Sport is all in all a pretty solid car. It's fairly fuel efficient, considering it's a 2006. It's a small SUV, which is ideal for Southern California roads and traffic.
Story
We live pretty close to Rancho Palos Verdes, which is a beautiful coastal city. The area is loaded with hills and dips. The RAV can really build up momentum going up and down those hills, as it's a pretty light vehicle, so we accidentally caught some good air time recently! We giggled like we were kids getting that "butterfly" feeling in our stomachs.
Pros
The car has very good pick up and maneuverability as well. It isn't terribly comfortable, but that's not a big concern to me. It's the perfect size to parallel park, which is great for my area, and the car drives very easily. My favorite thing, that I don't think most people utilize, is that you can take the head rest off and lay the seat all the way down until it aligns with the backseat. That essentially makes an impromptu bed if you ever need while on a road trip or otherwise!
Cons
That said, the build quality is average. The additional features for the rear portion (cargo net, privacy shade for cargo) rattle terribly sometimes. The rattling doesn't stop when I take those pieces out, although it does get better. The car isn't overly attractive; its appearance is fairly generic. I am fairly utilitarian with my vehicles though, so this doesn't bother me.
2006 Toyota RAV4 - The Toyota Rav-4 is a great all-around vehicle.
My Rav-4 is great all-around vehicle. It has a smooth ride like a car. As a small SUV, it sits a little higher than a car, so you can see over them and further ahead into traffic. In the back, you can put quite a bit of 'stuff.' It has over 90,000 miles and has not needed major repairs. It has decent power when merging onto the freeway or passing cars. I like that it has a full-size spare tire. The blind spots are minimal. Probably my favorite feature is the side opening rear door. It opens out, not up. It is so very easy to open and close. I wish the new Rav-4s still had this feature! My only complaints are the gas mileage and it burns a lot of motor oil.
Story
It has been used twice to take my mother and I on vacation to Arizona. It's been to Phoenix and to Sedona.
Pros
My favorite features are the side opening rear door, the full-size spare tire, and the height of the vehicle and the durability (not yet needing major repairs, knock on wood).
Cons
My complaints are the so-so gas mileage and that it burns a lot of motor oil. I mostly drive on city streets, and the mpg is around 19-20. I also have to top off the oil between oil changes. My mechanic tells me it's a characteristic of this vehicle.

2008 Toyota Corolla - Gilroy Toyota
They were willing to negotiate with me and they also threw in extras like car mats without any negotiation. The car was also in perfect condition and it had barely been driven.
