2001 Toyota RAV4 - Greatest Car I Have Ever Owned
I like that it's so reliable. I have had to hop in the car and drive halfway across the country the next day for an emergency, and did not worry about it breaking down once. It's great in the snow and great for travelling. When I remove the back seats, it's the perfect length for me to sleep in if I'm camping in less than ideal weather. It also fits my fly fishing rods perfectly. It's one of the best small SUVs left, by far.
Story
I was camping by myself in Moab, UT, one summer and woke up early to flash floods running through camp. I threw everything into the back of the car (it's big enough where I didn't have to pack anything up) and started driving out of the park. I had to cross a flooded wash where the water was so high, it started leaking into the floorboards. But the car was a champ and made it through the water... (more)
Pros
The vehicle is great for driving in the snow. It has a high enough clearance to get over a lot of snow banks and the 4wd has prevented me from ever getting stuck. It also has a low center of gravity, so it's hard to flip over. Towing capacity is great, I towed a fully loaded U-Haul trailer from Denver to California this summer.
Cons
Have had some issues with the catalytic converters, just had to have 2 replaced. The max tongue weight does not support a dirt bike carrier, which is kind of a bummer, but it is able to tow a moto trailer. Also, in order for some things, like a bicycle rack, to be installed on the tow hitch, you have to remove the spare tire completely. Otherwise you have to use an extender which cuts the weight of what you can put on there.
2001 Toyota RAV4 - Reliable vehicle with lots of space
The RAV 4 is a great vehicle because it has the storage space of an SUV but is small enough to easily park. I like that I can always fit all my purchases in the car and can even move furniture. I never have a hard time parking, even if parallel parking is all that is available. The car has great sight lines with no blind spots making it easy to move around on the road. The seats are very comfortable even after driving long hours from one destination to another. The stereo system is very reliable and the speakers in the door almost make it sound like surround sound, and I like that I can adjust the tremble and bass to my liking. In the winter, this compact SUV still does well. I have driven through snow storms without a problem and didn't even use special tires. The car is high up makin... (more)
Story
I will always remember moving into my first house in Boston from my parents house and filling the car with all my belongings as I drove to my new home.
Pros
The best part of the vehicle is the fact that it has the interior space of an SUV, but it still small enough to make it easy to park. I love how it's high up off the road making it easy to see while driving.
Cons
The only negative is that its an older vehicle so makes some vibrating noises when driving, but I'm sure a newer model wouldn't have the same problem.
