I love the gas efficiency of my Prius. It's nice to get at least 35 miles per gallon and be able to fill up for less than $30. The drawback to having such a smart car is that once the computer malfunctions, you have to take it to the dealership to be fixed. That minimizes most of the self help you can perform with less technological vehicles.
Story
We took a day trip to Charleston with my young niece. Despite the long trip and rough South Carolina roads, we had a very enjoyable trip that we still reminisce about.
Pros
Gas efficiency is a big plus, I've been able to get up to 45 miles per gallon on some trips. I like that the car is quiet and not loud like lots of other vehicles. It's a smaller car, but still very roomy. It rides very comfortable and we can fit 5 people easily on long trips. It's a very safe car, with air bags not only in the front, but on the sides as well. I like the navigation system for the Prius. The smart key feature is another great feature. It's very convenient that the car recognizes the key, without me having to find it in my purse each time. I also really like the feature wher... (more)
Cons
The main drawback is that due to the car being so technologically advanced, it cuts down on the amount of maintenance I can do myself. Most issues now require a trip to the dealership to get resolved.

I feel like my 2008 Toyota Prius was made just for me. It is responsive and has great pickup for a hybrid. Of course, the best thing about the Prius is the gas mileage, which you can observe in real-time on the dashboard's touchscreen display. Once you learn how to drive your Prius for optimum gas mileage, it becomes a fun game to try to maximize your mileage.
Story
When I wanted to purchase a Prius, there were none available in my area. I had to have my parents help me find one where they lived, which was 800 miles away. I wired them the money, and they drove the Prius to me. My dad could not believe that he only had to stop once for gas! He didn't want to give me the keys when they got here!
Pros
My favorite feature is the touchscreen display. You definitely feel like you are driving a computer, which is a dream come true for me. The display on the 2008 model is nice and large, and the main screen shows an animation that shows you what proportion of the energy consumed is coming from gas versus electric power at any given moment. This allows you to adjust your driving to use more or less gas. The display also shows you how much juice is available in the hybrid battery, and there are things you can do as a driver, such as letting off the gas and coasting. That will charge the battery.
Cons
The car does not get very good gas mileage in extremely cold or extremely hot weather, as it must use energy to run the heat/AC.

The best part about my dealership was the my salesman. I sat down, gave him the specifications of what I was looking for, and he said to me, "Come back on Thursday, your car will be here. " I went home, and came back on Thursday, and BOOM. There was my car. The color, the options, and manual transmission. We even negotiated the price a bit, and brought it down about $1000.

I purchased a new 2012 Toyota Camry SE from Valdosta Toyota. It was a very smooth car buying experience. Everything get explained to you in detail and any questions you have they will answer them for you. They don't try to con you or pressure into something that doesn't fit you or your budget. Nice clean and professional people.
