Toyota Prius Owner Ratings & Reviews

2008 Toyota Prius - A great day-to-day car
I bought this Toyota Prius as a used car. Since I bought it when it was almost three years old, I got a very good deal. This car has the best fuel efficiency of all the cars I have ever owned. Even when the gas price price was sky-rocketing, my wallet did not feel the pain at a gas station. The car has the perfect size in a busy city. Because it is relatively small, it is so much easier to park this car in one of those tight city curb side parking spots. Given this car's exterior size, the interior space is very impressive. Most people will seat comfortably in it. Also, it has a pretty spacious cargo area. We have no problem putting two suitcases in the trunk. It is very fun and easy to drive this car. It also has a very good safety rating. Putting everything in consideration, this is ... (more)
Story
When I just got this car, one day I could not start it at a parking lot. After checking the instruction, I found I had to step on the brake while starting the car. I was glad I wan not in a hurry that day.
Pros
Fuel efficiency, compact size, spacious interior, easy to handle.
Cons
Not powerful enough at times.
2012 Toyota Prius - Excellent fuel economy
I loved the fuel economy aspect of the car. The average mpg is above 50. Mpg is especially great for city drivers. There is a barometer that tells you how much your travel cost in a dollar amount. The car is relatively inexpensive and very quiet and comfortable. I have seen many Prius' being driven until 200k+. Maintenance cost is relatively inexpensive, and the car is reliable in general. The design is not top-notch.
Story
Since I live in an area with heavy traffic, there are cases when I see more Prius cars than non-Prius cars on the road.
Pros
I like the fuel economy, and the trunk of the car for storage. I can regularly carry four men, and it has huge space for groceries. I like keyless entry, the back up camera, and the push-start button. I also like the wipers in the rear window.
Cons
The drive is not as smooth on highways. If you use ECO mode, acceleration can be somewhat slow. Battery can be expensive to replace. I personally do not like the design. I wish there was a non-hatchback version of the Prius. Navigation is useless because it is inferior compared to Google Maps. Also, there is a pretty big blind spot. The passenger seat is a bit small. I do now like the design of newer models (2016 and up).
