This car at first looked like a wonderful fit for me. I get about 46 miles to the gallon. This is important because I'm driving 60 miles per day. It has a touch screen navigation system. This touch screen also includes an interface to change the climate, radio, calendar, energy usage and consumption. This is also where the backup camera display is shown. This is probably one of my favorite features. The car also has a feature where when you put the car in reverse, it starts beeping, just like a large truck. The interior is nice. The seats are grey fabric. The seat movement is manual, so no automatic/power controls. This car has automatic windows and buttons to move the side mirrors. The rearview mirror dims when a cars with bright lights come up behind you. It also has contr... (more)
Story
I had this car parked in my driveway at 7am on a Sunday morning. I woke up to a loud rumbling noise. When I looked out the window, a drunk driver had drove through my yard, jumped a 2 foot concrete block retaining wall, and hit this car. Even though it did $9,000+ worth damage, the insurance company would not total it. Not a fun story, but it's memorable.
Pros
You cannot lock your keys in the car. 46 miles per gallon Backup camera Navigation system No key needed to unlock
Cons
After 100,000 the warranty on the hybrid battery is useless. This is horrible because it is very expensive to fix. In addition, if you have anything wrong with the car you are forced to go to the dealership to get the car fixed. This can get extremely expensive. I have spent over $3,000 in repairs. This doesn't include new tires, oil changes, and routine maintenance.

2010 Toyota Prius - Meets all promises and great gas mileage.

Overall, this vehicle exceed my expectations when purchased. Prior to purchase, I had two concerns. First, would it be big enough for my body. I'm 6' 3" and was concerned that the Prius, being a compact car, would not be spacious enough from my frame. After sitting in it, and test driving, it became apparent that the interior space was more than sufficient. Second concern was battery life and the replacement cost. At this point, after six years, the battery is still operating at top efficiency. Overall, the Prius lives up to the reputation of Toyota. This was the first Toyota I've owned. At 120,000 miles, I have not experienced any maintenance or repair issues that are not considered routine. The car has surprisingly good performance, especially on acceleration when starting fro... Story
My wife and son went camping, and due to poor selection of camp site, our tent became very wet due to water pooling. We decided to spend the remaining night in the back of the Prius. We folded down the rear seats and stuffed ourselves in the back for a cramped nights sleep.
Pros
Obviously, I purchased the vehicle for the promised fuel efficiency. This has lived up to the hype, averaging about 45-50 miles to the gallon. I drive 35 miles each way on my commute, and this is significant savings. Also, where I live, fuel efficient vehicles are permitted on the "high occupancy vehicle" express lanes with only one occupant. The car is well made, and no maintenance has been required that isn't considered routine. Routine maintenance includes brakes, oil changes and tune up at 100,000 miles. I've had not issues in poor weather, including snow.
Cons
The car has been designed light to improve fuel efficiency. At times, especially when closing the doors, you realize how light and little steel is used in the construction.
