2006 Toyota Prius - Love my Pri Pri
I love my Prius. I originally purchased it because it gets great gas mileage. I travel a lot for work, and gas is a huge expense. Being able to get upwards of 45 to 50 miles per gallon really cuts down on that expense. After the purchase, I also started liking a lot more of it. It's very comfortable. The sound system is also amazing. It's one of those JBL systems that must have been an upgrade. I am a musician so this was very important to me.
Story
There is so much room in this car when the seats are folded down that I have slept in it while traveling several times. Even with a guitar in there, I can still have enough room to make a bed in the back!
Pros
The gas mileage is the number one thing I love about this vehicle. It gets twice as much as my last car. I also really love the JBL sound system that came with it. I was probably an upgrade, but as a musician I very much appreciate it. I also love that it is a hatchback. I have to haul a lot of gear around as a musician, and the hatchback allows for maximum use of all of the space in the vehicle. I can easily fit a couple of guitars, and all of my sound equipment in there with room to spare.
Cons
There aren't many cons to this car. The one that stands out the most would be power. I didn't buy the car thinking it would be super fast or anything. But there are times (going up hills) that a little extra umpf would be nice. I also wish that there was just a tad bit more legroom. I am 6'3'' and am pretty close to being as tall as you can be to drive that vehicle. Other than that I can't really think of anything else I don't like about it.
2010 Toyota Prius - Great fuel efficient car.
Overall, this car has been great. Toyota in general has always done me right. Since owning the car, I have had zero mechanical issues with the car. I have changed the oil and rotated tires regularly, and it has treated me well. The fuel efficiency, which is usually why you buy a hybrid, has been quite nice. I no longer have to hunt for the cheapest gas price or worry about filling up. It takes less than $30 to fill up no matter where I stop, and this gets me 450-500 miles. Great for road trips. It has plenty of room for hauling most items. Granted, it is four-door hatchback, so it does have it limitations in that department, but I have fit a surprising amount in it. I own a 70-lb. dog, and he fits in the backseat nicely. I usually lay the seats down, and he has all the room he could need.
Story
Being told I couldn't haul a large shelf home from the furniture store and the clerk laughing when he saw it actually would fit.
Pros
I love that gas is no longer part of the equation for car ownership. No hunting for the cheapest prices. I just pull in wherever is closest and fill up.
Cons
I don't have many gripes, but if I had to pick one thing, it would probably be the power. Hybrid vehicles are not known for their power. This car is no different. The only times I feel it is when I might need to punch it to jump out into traffic, but once you are up to speed, it's no different than any other car.
