2008 Toyota Prius - My thoughts on the 2008 Prius

My 2008 Prius was originally a vehicle that was used as a taxi cab. After coming near to the end of its life and also being involved in a fender bender, my Dad, who owned the cab, took the car out of commission and swapped it with another for use in his taxi. The Prius was given a paint job back to its white color from the yellow it was painted and handed down to us.
Pros
The pros of this vehicle number one would have to be the gas mileage; I fill it once a week and am able to get around to all the places I need to go. The air conditioning works great, and it has an advance system to keep track of what your gas consumption is. I mention that the vehicle was originally taxi in detail because this vehicle has over 400,000 miles, which is absolutely absurd for something like a Ford. It's crazy. There have been no major maintenance or repairs required for the vehicle since 2008.
Cons
The cons of this vehicle have to be the blind spots; it's hard to see sometimes, and the seats are not adjustable.

2010 Toyota Prius - Best car I have ever had. Efficient, comfortable, reliable, low-maintenance, versatile.

The reliability is unbelievable. I've done nothing but tires, oil & filter changes & tires during these 180K miles and 10 years. I replaced the spark plugs at 120K miles out of guilt, but I'm not sure they needed it. The front brake pads are now about due, but the rear are still fine. The 12v and traction batteries still seem fine. The fuel efficiency is amazing. I've routinely gotten over 50mpg in my combination of street, highway, and stop-and-go traffic. The car is surprisingly versatile. I can haul lumber, drive on long trips, do my daily commute, and when I go camping I can sleep in the back by folding down the rear seats.
Story
We go tailgating to football games using the Prius. After a big lunch, we stretch out in the back for a nap. It's very comfortable to sleep in with the seats folded down and a cushion in the back.
Pros
Reliability. Low cost of maintenance. Fuel efficiency. Quiet - it's a quiet car except when climbing hills or when the tires are worn. Comfortable - the seats are good and there's plenty of headroom up front and legroom in the back (rear headroom is moderate, but good). The key fob system is very convenient. You can just touch the door knob and it will unlock if you have the key in your pocket. The engine starts with a button push without having to take the keys out of your pocket.
Cons
The car has very modest acceleration at best. In fact, one would have to call it a slow car, though given enough roadway, it will achieve reasonable cruising speed and maintain it comfortably. The car is quite a poor hill-climber. The engine revs up and works quite hard on grades. The appearance of the car is ok, but it's definitely not a girl-magnet. It's very difficult to work on the car yourself. Even replacing the spark plugs involves removing the windshield wiper motor mechanism. After a long time, the traction batteries can wear out and the car will refuse to start. This is a very... (more)

There is always a fresh, hot cup of coffee waiting when I have a morning appointment here. The cordiality and kindness these guys always have is incredible, especially since they have to deal with a ton of aggravated people all day. The service is wonderful and they are very practical, the rates for tire replacements and minor adjustments are not inflated like the majority of other Hollywood dealerships. I have bought two cars from this lot, and they never disappoint with what they provide every time.
