The highlander is a great family vehicle. It runs well and we've had no major issues with any of the car systems. The interior is roomy and well appointed on the sport model and the fold-flat third row makes seating and storage extremely flexible. Audio system quality is excellent and the heated seats are such a nice addition on cold winter days. The ability to tow light trailers is also a nice feature, especially when moving large bulky items. The sport model features total power adjustment for the drivers seat, including he ability to adjust the height of the seat making it a good choice for shorter drivers. One great thing for parents is the fact that a double stroller fits comfortable in the back, whereas a trunk on a sedan and the back of smaller SUVs isn't large enough.
Story
We used our highlander to get our first Christmas tree for our new house. In the past we had to borrow a vehicle because our sedan wasn't large enough but the highlander comfortably fits even a large tree on the top.
Pros
Fold-flat third row. Good gas mileage compared to traditional SUVs. Flexible seating options. Quiet interior. Excellent audio system. Towing capability. Appealing exterior styling. Sport model has total power seat adjustment for the driver, including the ability to adjust the height up and down making it a great choice for people who are short.
Cons
The second row middle seat is tiny and not very usable for anyone larger than a child. A couple days after we bought the vehicle the clear coat started peeling off the front bumper so it appears the quality of the clear coat/paint may not be the best.
