2012 Toyota Highlander - Fantastic vehicle
This is a great family vehicle. I would definitely purchase the car again, and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a safe and affordable alternative for a larger family. The car fits up to seven people comfortably and feels very safe and stable, even at higher speed freeway driving. The car also features a very attractive exterior - timeless elegance that you know won't go out of style.
The main reason we purchase this vehicle is because of Toyota's reputation of making cars that retain their value. After checking Kelly's Blue Book recently, I'm amazed at how true this is. Our mileage is rather high because we have taken the car on quite a few family trips, but that did not impact the resale value as much as I had anticipated. It seems that most other brands lose more than... (more)
Story
We usually have other Toyota owners give us a friendly thumbs up or wave when we pass by. I don't know if that's because we live in El Paso (notorious for friendly people!) Or not, but it certainly makes you feel like you're part of a bigger family/community of owners!
Pros
Despite being a large vehicle, it does very well on gas mileage (about 26 to 27 miles). As long as you continue to bring this vehicle in for service, it practically takes care of itself!
2009 Toyota Highlander - Dependable and acceptable.
Having owned two Avalons prior to the Highlander, I was accustom to a luxury ride. When I was shopping for a new SUV, my choices came down to the Highlander and the Honda Pilot. The test drive was all it took to make a decision. The Honda Pilot drove like a truck, and the Highlander rode identical to the luxury of the Avalons. It was a no-brainer.
I am in my sixth year of owning the Highlander. Over all it is an excellent vehicle. I do find it to be a bit large for me, though. I don't think that's the fault of the Highlander; it's more because I prefer a sedan. I purchased the seven-seater to accommodate grandchildren.
The mileage is excellent, especially considering the size of this vehicle. And after all these years, I still feel like I am riding in the luxury of an Avalon.
Story
It is the perfect vehicle to take to Costco!
Pros
It seats seven and has a very nice leather interior, dual Air, GPS, sun Roof and gives a smooth ride.
Cons
Too large, somewhat of a blind spot that was hard to get used to.
