Overall, the Highlander has been a great vehicle for my family to grow into. I was able to have three car seats in the middle row, leaving the back down for storage or additional seating if needed. We have taken family road trips much more often since having the Highlander. Everything works great on the car and have not had any mechanical issues. I bought the base model so it is very generic, but I have been able to count on this car to take us around the country. For an SUV, the gas mileage and car insurance are affordable.
Story
I took the family on a trip to San Diego, California, for their first time. We drove six hours and stopped along the way to stretch. The kids were able to have enough space for toys and movies in the car. Pros
My favorite features on the Highlander would include the storage space as well as the third-row seat. I am able to lay down and use different seats based on my needs. The vehicle has all power windows and locks with child safety features, which is important for my family. I love that it is an SUV but still manageable to drive and park without being too big to maneuver. The sounds system for the base model of the Highlander is very impressive because it is loud and has enough bass that you do not need to add anything to it to make it better.
Cons
The engine size because it does not have any speed when trying to get around another car or if you need to speed up quickly. I would have preferred a model that has a sunroof as well as built-in TV monitors for the children in the back seat. The middle console for the middle seat is detachable, but it is also very hard to attach so I have not been able to use it at all. When I purchased the car, they only provided one key and a key fob that stopped working. I never replaced it due to the cost of the key fob.

My silver Toyota Highlander is one of the best cars I've ever owned. Not only is the seat elevated, giving me a great view of the traffic ahead, as well as a comfortable perspective of all the cars around me, it also features convenient features intended to maximize safety, including a rearview mirror, beeping sounds when a seatbelt isn't fastened, and more. My Highlander has traversed different terrains, yet it continues to hold up well. The best part is that the seats can be pushed into the back when need be to free up space -- in this way, I have carried musical instruments, sports gear, luggage, groceries, and other heavy or wide-reaching items. Story
I used this car to pick up and drop off my boyfriend, who lives in a different city, every day last summer. We had fantastic chats on our commutes in and out of the city, shared music, and learned about each other throughout these rides.
Pros
My favorite thing about this vehicle is its convenient backing mirror, which allows me to parallel park with ease and gauge oncoming traffic. The fact that the car can also easily be adjusted to fit more or less people is a huge boon to me, as I want a car that can fit my needs. The radio in the car is also detailed and allows for a wide selection of tastes. It conveniently allows me to save my different radio station so that I can pull them up instantly when I am driving.
Cons
Some things can be irritating about the car, including the incessant beeping sound when someone does not fasten his or her seatbelt. The fact that the car also requires so much gas - at least $30 to charge per tank - can be challenging. Furthermore, the car makes occasional squeals that worry me and make me wonder whether the engine is operating well.
