2013 Toyota Corolla - The 2013 Toyota Corolla is the Perfect First Car
The 2013 Toyota Corolla was the first car I ever owned and I got it during my first year of college. It's perfect for living in a suburban or city area and does great when driving both in town and on the highway. I think it's a very cute car, but it isn't so tiny that I can't fit my friends when we want to go out. It gets good gas mileage and I always have to spend less on gas than my friends with trucks or larger cars. I have never had a maintenance issue with this car and I take it in about twice a year for basic service (oil change, tire rotation, etc.). I was hit by another driver making an illegal right turn on red and the car handled the impact very well. I barely even moved in my seat even though my car got pushed onto a median and I was still able to drive it home and then to t... (more)
Story
I once had to drive my friend to her family's house 6 hours away from where we currently live. It was very last minute and I had never gone on a "road trip" before, so I wasn't sure how my car would do. However, the car was great and we sang songs and stopped at truck stops the entire way there. The AC never faltered (which is vital in the middle of a Texas summer) and the ride was smooth and ... Pros
I love the design of the car and the safety features of my car the most. I have been in an accident and the car handled it very well, keeping me safe and performing under a multitude of weather conditions such as ice, snow, and rain. My car also gets great gas mileage and handles very fluidly. It's also pretty quiet compared to a lot of non-hybrid cars I've been in.
Cons
The only issue I've ever had with this car is that sometimes it takes a second or two to get up to speed when you're trying to go faster than around 60 mph. For instance, sometimes when I'm trying to accelerate from 60 to 70 mph in order to change lanes on the highway, it was pause for a split second before actually accelerating. This never happens below 60 mph, though I wish it were more responsive at high speeds when it comes to acceleration time.
2010 Toyota Corolla - Long-lasting value
I purchased my Toyota Corolla in 2010 when I needed a very reliable vehicle to drive back and forth, an hour each way, to my teaching job. When I was deciding which brand to purchase, a friend had a Toyota Corolla and raved about the reliability and gas mileage, so I decided to take a test drive. I was surprised at how comfortable it was, for being a slightly smaller model than the Toyota Camry. After driving the car, I was impressed that it handled well, and there was a zero percent annual percentage rate offer being advertised by the local dealership, so I got very serious about making a purchase. I weighed the pros and cons and purchased my Corolla. Now, seven years later, I am so glad that I did!
Story
Surprisingly, this car has enough power to pull a small trailer. Once, I had a friend who needed to move a couch and neither of us had access to a truck. I had a small hitch put on the back, and we rented a trailer for the day and were able to easily haul the couch across town. We got some strange looks, but I felt really independent knowing that if I needed to, I could rent a trailer for a da... (more)
Pros
My favorite thing about my Corolla is the fact that in seven years of owning it, I have paid almost nothing in repairs, only standard maintenance like tires, oil and brakes. I am not a car person and am not comfortable doing maintenance on my vehicle, so this was a very important factor for me. My Corolla has also saved me a ton of money on gas. With prices climbing, I reliably get 30 miles to the gallon, even seven years after purchase. I feel great when I pull up to the gas pump, and it doesn't break the bank. I also like that the Corolla is comfortable to drive. The seats are very comfo... (more)
Cons
I purchased the base model, which does not have electric windows or door locks. In hindsight, I wish I would have purchased an upgraded model. There have been times when my hands have been full, and I would have appreciated the convenience. The truck of this vehicle is somewhat smaller than the Camry, and I thought I might feel hindered by it, but other than some large camping items, I have been able to haul almost every thing that I want with it. Finally, I can't say that the car is very stylish. It's not. It's a very basic-looking car and won't turn any heads, but if you need something r... (more)
