2006 Toyota Corolla - Durable, economy.
Bought this car new in 2006, it has only 135,000 miles with no body rust after 12 years! Year around driving mixed roads it gets 35-36 miles to the gallon. Unlike a lot of the newer cars this car burns no oil. Fold down rear set lets me place my bike in the trunk.
Story
Driving home once in the winter, it was snowing and a little slick. Topped a hill and a deer was in the road. Hit my brakes and slid on the slick road. Deer laid down on all four in front of my car. I bumped into it at less than 5 MPH, it spun counter clockwise 3 time off to the side of the road, it got up and ran. Car wasn't ever damaged!
Pros
Front wheel drive gets me around in the winter even on my 2 miles of up hill dirt roads. Fill the tank every three week, over a 400 mile range on a tank of gas. Cruise control works very well.
Cons
Not good on ice and snow without great care. Would rather it came with crank down windows, instead of electric.
2001 Toyota Corolla - This car is reliable, sturdy, great on gas, and the engine is amazing.
I got the car from my father, he got it from my grandma. My grandma first owned it. She got it through a dealership and paid it off. Then after my grandpa died, my grandma got Alzheimer's. It was awful. So my dad got the car. I'm not sure of what money was exchanged. I know he paid taxes on it. Well my dad drove it for years. Then, several years ago, I finally got my license. My dad sold it to me. I paid $1,000. It had 100,000 miles on it. I have ran it since then, and yes, I have had to replace several things. But it is still the most reliable car I have ever owned.
Story
We had plenty of them. We went to concerts. We drove out of state to Tennessee, Kentucky, and Myrtle Beach. I loved this car. We drove it to Chicago. It was nice on the drive. The engine was always good. Plenty of room. Huge trunk. Air used to work amazingly. CD player and radio. Cup holders. We loved driving it at night on curvy roads. It handles so well.
