2012 Toyota Corolla - I like this Toyota!
This is my first foreign car, and I am very happy with it. My favorite cars were always Buicks. However, this Toyota was on sale when I was looking. I have not had to spend one penny on any repairs. I bought it used (32,000) miles three years ago.
Story
I enjoy the short trips with the Toyota with my granddaughters who are teenagers. I remember when I kept telling them to make sure the trunk was closed good because it was always opening. I found out there is a button on the ignition key set that opens the trunk. I must have been accidentally opening it by pressing the button.
Pros
I like the size. It is easy to maneuver even in tight fitting spots. I will admit I am not the greatest driver and have problems judging distances, but I haven't even put one dent in the Toyota. When I have it all cleaned up and it has been to the car wash, it really looks good, and it sparkles. It is excellent on gas which is more than just a small thing to mention. It has saved me tons of money in that manner alone. I also like it because it is user friendly. Besides the Bluetooth features, it is not so highly technical that I am afraid to drive it.
Cons
One thing I will mention that is a big negative for me is that there is not sufficient leg room for the driver. I do have long legs and thought I would get used to it, but I haven't. I am a little squashed up front. The one feature that is missing is a rear window windshield wiper. I live in the Midwest with snow and salt in the winter piled up on the streets. This is the one safety feature that is missing.
2012 Toyota Corolla - My foreign car.
I never thought I would own a foreign car. However, I do love my Toyota. I come from a blue collar family. Everyone in my family owns Buicks, Chevrolets or other American made cars. I don't think anyone has ever owned a Toyota. I had my choice of cars when my children decided to pitch in and buy me a car. I felt very lucky and wanted to make sure I bought a car that was low maintenance. I researched all the different makes of cars. I did not have enough for a new car so I had to buy a good used car. I chose Toyota because of their maintenance agreement after the sale. The sales associates were very helpful and answered all my questions. In fact the associates did not encourage me to go into debt for a new car. I am happy now that I don't have a payment.
Story
It is a sandy beige color but my friends call it "gold" because it is so special to me.
Pros
My favorite feature of this car is that it is attractive and I have no bills for it except the oil changes. I have owned it for 6 years. I also like the dealership people. They are very accommodating. I might add that it is also very user friendly to drive. The controls are not too complicated as far as technology is concerned.
Cons
I think that a lot of cars are like this now but synthetic oil is needed for the oil changes and it is a little more costly than regular oil. I also could use some more leg room but this has been a little easier to get used to than high mechanics' bills I might have with another car.
