I got this car four years ago for relatively cheap—about $3,500. Since then, I have driven it almost daily, and it has never let me down. I do wish that it was a little sportier looking—I can sometimes be a little envious of the smart-looking whips my friends drive around. The trim and body condition has held up decently over the years, but it's definitely starting to show a little wear from sun damage and scratches that have accumulated over the years. I plan on being a lifelong Toyota driver because of this car, though. Other cars have had catastrophic problems that occurred well before the 100k mile mark. I'm still smooth sailing with this car at about 110k miles. I also like the fact that it has a built-in temperature indicator and that the headlights are always on when the car is ... (more)
Story
I managed to take it on a move from Texas to Oregon with everything I could possibly fit in it, plus a cat! It was very cramped and uncomfortable, but it was worth the trip. I actually crammed a lot more in that I expected.
Pros
It is a budget-friendly model—initial cost is low because of the no-frills design, and maintenance is fairly inexpensive. It is such a reliable vehicle that you have much more leeway with the maintenance intervals than other vehicles would give you. Admittedly, I have gone several thousand miles over my recommended oil change, transmission flush, brakes, etc. The car still ran fine. It has headlights that are always on when the car is running, so you never need to worry about turning them on and off. It is an automatic transmission, which makes it a great starter car for teenagers learning... (more)
Cons
Basic-looking design of both the interior and exterior make it not worth a second glance. It's very mundane, nothing special looking about it. Since it's a compact model, you can't fit large furniture or other objects in it. Moving lots of smaller things would take several trips. Low clearance and lack of four-wheel drive makes it unsuitable for taking out on camping trips on treacherous/unpredictable forest roads.

2004 Toyota Corolla - Small car with great gas mileage which is dependable and fun to drive.

This car is great to run around town in and long road trips are good too. The trunk space is huge for the size of the car as it fit my dog stroller, golf clubs and travel bags with no problem. I've had very little issues with it and it didn't start having rattles of any type until over 200,000 miles. I've consistently gotten over 30+ mpg over the years. The stereo is average for factory install but it suited my needs perfectly. No issues with interior of car, it has held up extremely well. I was rear-ended once and I couldn't believe how well the frame held up. All damage was mainly in the undercarriage. That incident proved to me it was an extremely safe car for a compact car.
Story
I periodically took my mom's daycare kids to my car and we listened to the radio or YouTube while sitting in the car singing songs and eating popcorn. They'd ask me to take them for a ride so we'd drive around the circular driveway (we live in the country). They still talk about those times!
Pros
Proven to be a very safe car, great gas mileage, 4 door, huge trunk. Also liked that the back seats went down so I could put my bike in the car if needed or other long things. I love the two drink holders for back seat riders. I liked the middle console where I could keep a bunch of things i.e. pens, etc.
Cons
I wish the stereo was better. It would have been nice to be able to hook up my phone through the radio but I'm not sure that was available in 2004. Wish it had my engine power on the hills or when passing cars.

They had a great selection of cars. The salesman was good, he wasn't pushy and didn't make me feel anxious, we had plenty of time to test drive and decide which vehicle to buy. I set up a payment plan directly with them at a low interest rate. All-in-all, Kendall Toyota provided me with a pleasant buying experience.
