I bought my Camry with just under 100,000 miles and so far have had to make just one repair on it besides oil changes and regular maintenance. It's a six-cylinder, so when I need to give it a little gas when I am in traffic it's never an issue. I always know it will turn over in the morning, and I know parts and fixes will never be an issue because the Camry is such a common model. This model is also more recent than Toyota's recalls, so I'm not worried about anything failing or defective parts. So far the performance has been great. Although I'd like the city gas mileage to perform slightly better, the 2.5 Hour drive home always goes smoothly because the car handles and drives exceptionally on the road. Story
Mostly I like to park my car when I can, so there are hardly memorable stories I have with it, which can actually be more significant. The fact that I have no complaints about getting from point A to point B is in itself fun for me, because it means I have a reliable mode of transportation.
Pros
My favorite features of the vehicle has to be how smoothly it handles and how much control I have over the speed. I never knew how much control I could have over an automatic car until I used this one. Having used manual transmissions before, I was nervous, especially coming up on Minnesota winters that it'd be hard to navigate in traffic on a busy high such as the one I use to get to work. However I've never had any issue with this. I also love the interior. Cons
The Camry is starting to show its age, and since I've only owned the car for a short period, the charges are starting to rack up. For the first 6 months or so of ownership I only had to make oil changes and change the air filter in addition to fill ups. About six months in, my bank one sensor one oxygen sensor became defective, not a threat to anything except gas mileage, so I waited awhile to fix it. The car was a very good for its price, so I bought it. The car gets very good mileage for how old it is, especially compared to other similar models of the time frame. While all of this is a plus, it has gotten to the point where it seems like there is an issue every other month. Has had a constant and seemingly unfixable leak since purchased about 4 years ago, on top of other issues. No major issues at this point, but have but nearly car's value into the vehicle between different small fixes. Car has very little value at this point (190,000 miles), and it seems that it is time to upgrade, but will most likely get scrap value for car.
Story
Went on a very fun road trip with the car through some very scenic routes. Car held up great over some not as well maintained road, did not break down in the wilderness, which is a big plus.
Pros
Car has great mileage for age. Toyota engine, which is known for being able to run a lot miles, which is also true for mine. I believe this model was the first model to include power windows, which was a big plus, considering a lot of cars from this time frame would not have this feature.
Cons
Again, as stated in the review, there seems to be a new issue every other month. I realize this comes with old cars, but had an older Honda Accord previous to this model and did not have similar issues. Constant oil leak that seems to be unfixable, rotted out sub frame that is severely limiting the life of the car, power windows broke on back window, other leaky fluids that seem to be very hard to locate. The list goes on and on, to the point that the car itself, while has lasted very long, is very close to its end.
