2010 Toyota Camry - Practical and reliable car.
We bought this vehicle used off of Craigslist. I have been extremely satisfied with this vehicle from a durability and maintenance requirement standpoint. It has close to 110,000 miles on it, and we expect to keep it for another 75,000 to 100,000 miles. The only maintenance I perform on it is regular oil changes. The CD player, however, does have its drawbacks. It will randomly shut down and not accept CDs, or it will say that a CD has been inserted when in actuality, there is no CD inserted.
Story
I have driven this car through a cow pasture multiple times over the past three years.
Pros
I like how the vehicle accelerates. You can barely feel the transmission shifting as the vehicle increases in speed. Additionally, I can fit my lawn mower and tools in the trunk without worrying that they will fall out as I drive to do maintenance work at our rental properties. I was even able to fit approximately 40 squares of St. Augustine grass in the trunk back in February. That was a welcome surprise, as I did not want to have to make an extra trip to the nursery.
Cons
As I mentioned above, the CD player has its drawbacks. Additionally, the key fob has not held up well in terms of battery life. Compared to other vehicles I have driven, I have to change the key fob battery more frequently. One other issue that I have is the driver's head rest seems to cause a blind spot when I look over my shoulder as I am changing lanes. I consider this to be a hazard and have to take extra precaution, such as slowing down as I change lanes.
2009 Toyota Camry - Amazing, reliable car
It is a very reliable car. One of the first cars I've ever bought, and it seriously did not disappoint. My parents decided to hand me down this car to use when driving to high school, and it came in very handy. I also decided that I wanted to take the car to college because I was sure that it would prove useful for me, and it did. The gas to mileage ratio is very good as well, and the car definitely isn't a gas-guzzling machine like an SUV would be.
Story
My first time on the highway was with this car when I was learning to drive, so it's very memorable.
Pros
Good quality for value. It's a lot cheaper than some of those high-end cars that are out there, but it's perfect and exactly what I want and need. I've never had this car fail me or have it cause unnecessary problems. It takes me (and others) where I (we) need to be and does it well. I would definitely recommend this car for students or new drivers since it is very easy to maneuver.
Cons
It requires quite a bit of maintenance. I've found myself having to take it to the body shop for tune ups and maintenance checks quite a bit more than my other cars. It also sometimes makes a weird sound when I brake, but after talking to an employee at the body shop, I found out that it was a common problem amongst Camrys and that it posed no risks.
