Toyota Camry Owner Ratings & Reviews
Write a Review
2006 Toyota Camry - Best car I ever have owned.
My overall experience of the car is exceptional. I like the design of the car, both outer and the interior. I had no problems with any electronic components of the car. The car runs smoothly, it gives a nice driving experience. I liked the fuel usage of the car. It is economical compared to the size.
Story
I love the car. But as a new driver, I had some problems parking in our specified parking space in our apartment complex in Fairfax, Virginia. So I would sometime leave that part to my husband.
Pros
I like the interior and outside style of the car. In interior design every gadget is in a reaching distance. One can easily change any setting with no difficulty. Since I have been using the car, I have not experienced any problem with electronic components. I had no problem with the engine so far. This might be because I took a good care of it. I had done regular checks and didn't delay any of its needs. However, the car has a good performance. Its fuel usage is not bad. It is a spacious car both on the front seats and the back. The car's truck is also spacious, one can fit a medium-size ... (more)
Cons
Some gadgets that I thought it were missing. Driver has to estimate how much gas left in the tank because the indicator on the dashboard isn't helpful.
2001 Toyota Camry - As it ages, troubles increase
This is a car with a reputation for great reliability which is undeserved. Once it goes past 100,000 miles, you face an onslaught of issues which belie the car's reputation and which reflect badly on Toyota engineering and design. If you can get past those, it may be worth keeping in an attempt to reach 200,000 miles.
Story
Recently I had to pull a Houdini to fit a tall, young tree in the car. Put the pot in the front passenger footwell and the leafy treetop outside the left rear passenger window and got a lot of looks driving home from the nursery.
Pros
The car looks good with a good paint job. There are two cigarette lighter connections for electronics or smoking. The engine is laid out well with easy access to oil, water, wiper fluid. The car blends in well and has decent pick up for merges into fast traffic. The trunk offers enough space for four bags of mulch, plus tools, plus groceries. It comes in a stick version, which is always preferable to automatic. Parts are easy to get and any garage can work on this car.
Cons
You expect a Toyota to run well past 100,000 miles but the Camry faces major systems collapsing and will cost a small fortune to keep running after this milestone. I was shocked to read in the owner's manual that I should check the oil level after every run. It was an indicator of how fragile the vehicle is under the surface. If you work on cars yourself, and this is not a hard car to work on, you can reduce some of that cost. Don't be mislead by Toyota's reputation for reliability and good engineering as I was.
