Toyota 4Runner Owner Ratings & Reviews
Write a Review
2007 Toyota 4Runner - This car will only have one owner.
We bought our 4Runner for several reasons. Toyota makes some of the most durable vehicles on the planet. Once I watched a BBC show where they anchored a Toyota pickup (basically a 4Runner) on an ocean beach and the truck was completely covered by the tide. When the tide receded, they gave a mechanic an hour to look the engine over and he was able to start it.
Our 4Runner will only have one owner because it’s going to last as long as I want to keep it
Story
Three years ago a dear college friend told me at the last minute that he was getting married. He hadn't expected us to attend because we'd just had our third child and he really wasn't planning a formal wedding anyways. He should have known better. Their Brazilian/Cuban families quickly turned the wedding into a big event and we were not going to let a little thing like 3000+ miles stop us fro... (more)
Pros
The 4Runner has a lot of pros. It’s basically a beefy Tacoma pickup truck, so you have a powerful engine and frame for towing. Optional 4WD when you can switch on and off as needed. And the handling is sporty too which is nice if you live on a windy road like we do.
Cons
4Runners don’t come with many cons. The only two we’ve ever experienced involve size and mileage. The 4Runner is a midsize SUV, so there are times when you might feel cramped (say when 5 year old kids become teenagers). But this smaller size helps with the other con that the gas mileage isn’t great. For this reason, a 4Runner doesn’t make a great commuter car if you’ve got a long commute.
1983 Toyota 4Runner - Absolutely the perfect vehicle for me
I love my 4Runner so much that I hope to upgrade to a newer year eventually. It has (by far) been my favorite vehicle out of the handful of cars I have owned. It feels solidly built which is important to me. I prefer my SUVs to feel like SUV's and be able to handle rough roads or even two-tracks. This truck offers exactly that! It looks luxury but is able to perform like any durable SUV. I use my 4Runner to tote around my seven year old as well as hauling furniture, and it has never let me down. It is small enough to be able to drive comfortably in tight spaces or tricky situations but large enough to feel safe.
Story
Even the most ugly winter days here are no problem with my 4Runner. I have traveled on roads that many people weren't able to many times. Around here 4WD is so important!
Pros
The size is perfect. The interior is comfortable and not too plain/not too fancy. The sunroof is so nice in the summer as well. I love the way it drives especially in the winter (snow and ice) with 4WD. It handles perfectly, and I have never been stuck or unable to access a road in it. Also, the rear seats fold down flat allowing me to fit an amazing amount of things in it and even quite large furniture. The exterior color is gorgeous, and I feel that it looks newer than it is. The rear windshield wiper feature is very handy as well.
Cons
I wish the tailgate were split in the middle rather than one large pull up gate. It would make it a lot easier to open when parking in lots or tight spaces. I wish the backseat pockets on the front seatbacks were made of a material that you can see through. Maybe netting? Also, the cup holders could have been so much better quality, and I also feel that placing them in front of the vents. In the winter it is terribly difficult to keep drinks cold when they are sitting directly in front of the vent. Gas mileage is also a huge con but is typical of most SUVs.

2014 Toyota Corolla - Tustin Toyota
The sales person was patient and took his time with me as we test drove several cars. I was undecided between a Prius and Corolla and by the end of my interaction with him, I felt like I had all the information that I needed to make a decision.
