2000 Toyota 4Runner - Satisfied with most aspects
I have owned two different 4 runners and both were V6 engines and I love the mileage they get and the dependability that they give. This is the newer of the two that I have owned and it has not failed at any thing in my opinion. I take it to the beach a lot and the only regret I have is that it is not a 4X4. This is not completely true though because I am also happy it is not 4X4 because it would be harder on my truck if I could take it off road more.
Story
I was on the west coast looking for a surf beach and the truck got stuck in a simple little sand pit. I started feeling angry that I didn't get the 4X4 option but I got it out and realized that I would just have been in a tougher spot if the truck was able to go there.
Pros
The car gets great gas mileage for a truck which is around twenty mpg when I'm being easy on the driving conditions. The engine is a great v6 which has few issues. I love the way it feels like a small truck but drives like a small suv. I love this truck for the way it drives most of all.
Cons
I've had problems with the factory stereo and the wiring that goes to it. I had it looked at by two different mechanics and they said it was faulty wiring so I believe it was the factories problem. I have gone through brake assemblies rather fast and the spark plugs had to be replaced more often than other cars I have owned. I had one major issue and it turned out to be cylinder five which could have been many issues, in the end it turned out to be the cylinder packs but I replaced everything in that area.
2015 Toyota 4Runner - Greet family vehicle.
I love that the newer 4runners are sleek looking and modernized, there is ample space and the inside/electronics are updated without being too overdone. It runs great, I like that I haven’t had any problems with it thus far and it’s over 3 years old. I particularly dislike the suspension on it, I feel like it could be improved a lot. It’s not the worst ride I’ve ever felt but for the price point of the vehicle I think it could be a little more comfortable of a ride.
Story
Awesome trips to the beach, even with a newer vehicle you can be confident taking it adventuring. It’s definitely sporty and my family & I have definitely enjoyed a handful of beach days with it already.
Pros
The look, that is what sold me. I love how sleek and clean it looks, as well as the sporty aspect of it. I also like how they digitized the dash board and the full sized touch screen stereo.
Cons
The suspension is definitely lacking, it feels a little rough when you drive on a bumpy road or hit bumps, going over speed bumps need to be done slowly or your head is wobbling all over. I also think they ALL should have came with 3rd row seating instead of only certain models. The trunk space is great but for an SUV as big as it is, it should be standard to have the 3rd row pop out when you need it.
