So far, I have had the 4Runner for about 2 months. I had one previously before swapping to another model of vehicle and I have come back. The 4Runner is very reliable and handles well in all weather conditions. Being in Alaska, that is very important. The ability to go to 4wd is easy and can be done mostly on the fly. It is a big enough vehicle without being too large.
Story
I learned how to get it to not slide when I am not in 4WD. Most people expect me to take it off road but I won't.
Pros
Leather in the TRD Pro is very nicely made and it is holding up so far. The way the instrument panel is laid out is very nice. The heated seats while warm up quickly, they also will come on with remote start if they are left on.
Cons
Gas mileage is a bit lower than I was hoping for - at about 17.5 mpg. This isn't unusual for this type of vehicle but is a bit less than the other 4Runner (limited) that I had. Also - the amount of different colors for the TRD Off Road Premium was very limited (maybe just my dealership).

2018 Toyota 4Runner - Pleased, joyful, content.

The interior is very nice and feels luxurious for a 4 wheel drive car. The ride is smooth and pleasing during long hour road trips. The AC and heat works quickly and is reliable.
Story
The stares from certain people because there aren't many models of this in my area.
Pros
The look of the vehicle, the ride stability, the luxury features such as seat warmers.
Cons
The indicators on the dash are sometimes confusing, the cost of gas to fill it completely.

2018 Toyota 4Runner ReportCard Review

Autolist ReportCard Score: 96/100

Pros:

  • Excellent off-road credentials
  • Rugged body-on-frame
  • Surprisingly comfortable on-road ride
  • Spacious interior

Cons:

  • Aging powertrain
  • Needs more cargo space
  • Poor fuel economy
  • Brake pedal is too soft

Review Summary:

The 2018 Toyota 4Runner has a rugged body-on-frame, which provides a durable exterior for great safety, but the 7-passenger SUV needs more cargo space.

The aging powertrain, along with the poor fuel economy, could be improved upon, and the brake pedal seems too soft.

However, the 4Runner has excellent off-road capability, as well as a comfortable on-road ride that is actually surprising.

The spacious interior of the 4Runner is the type that is very helpful when you have a large family, especially for long distance traveling.
