The Ford Escape is quite roomy, with a large trunk. And as a bonus, the back seats fold completely flat, which doubles the trunk space, which is fantastic for us since we have a big dog who loves car rides. The actual door on the trunk is fantastic too, because not only does it open completely as a hatch back, but you can also open the rear windshield. I find that particularly useful when I am stacking things in the trunk or really don't need to pull the door open the entire way. The Escape also has plenty of storage and pockets on the interior, in the front, the back seats, and even in the trunk. I'm thrilled that the vehicle is a standard transmission too, because I prefer the level of control I have. Another great perk is that the car gets really great gas mileage, actually more than the specifications say it should. On the freeway without a lot of wind, I sometimes get up to 34 miles per gallon. It may not be four wheel drive, but it has plenty of clearance and performs wonderfully on snow and ice, even rutted ice. It also powers through a moderate level of mud with no problems. I have yet to get stuck anywhere in this vehicle. I feel very safe in my car.

It has a decent size fuel tank, but the gas mileage isn't the best.
