2005 Toyota 4Runner Owner Ratings & Reviews

2005 Toyota 4Runner - I love my 4Runner
I received my car from my parents for my 16th birthday. It was a used vehicle and they paid the lease until I was 18 and then I paid the rest of it myself over 2 years. It is now 10 years old and runs very well. I like the size, the way it looks, the fact that it runs smooth, and that it is durable. There are not many people I know who still have their first car and have no intention of getting a new one any time soon.
Story
In the summer, I love riding around with my windows down (all 4, sunroof, and trunk window), listening to music and smelling the salty ocean air.
Pros
I have put minimal work on this vehicle. It runs smooth. It looks great and I always get comments on how "I will never get rid of that car". I have put 130,000 miles on it and it runs very well. It is gold so even when it is dirty, you can hardly tell. I feel comfortable that if I were in a wreck, I would be safe because that model has very high safety ratings.
Cons
The sensors in my car do not work so the "check engine" and "low tire pressure" lights are always on. Even after I have gone to get them fixed, they are back on within a week. Also, the knob on my radio is messed up. When I turn the music up or down, the volume fluctuates so it is just easier to just change volume of music on the steering wheel. There are not air vents on the top of the car so my daughter gets hot in her rear facing car seat.
2005 Toyota 4Runner - Toyota, reliable and durable.
This vehicle is reliable. I live on a half-mile, neglected private dirt/gravel road. I trust that I can make it to my home regardless of the weather or road conditions. It starts quickly and quietly every time. It is spacious enough inside to bring home almost anything we need to help build our farm. Tin roofing panels, plywood, wooden boards, hay, and our large trash cans have all been in the back of my vehicle at one point or another. If there isn't enough room to haul something in the vehicle, it is easy to hook up a trailer, and my Toyota easily handles hauling a load. I like that if I need to get somewhere a little sticky, I can switch it into four-wheel drive and make it there safely. The exterior has held up to quite a bit of abuse. It is parked near a spot that is nearly always... (more)
Story
I once got stuck in a mud pit. Well, I thought I was stuck. I wasn't. After putting my car into four-wheel drive low, I came right out.
Pros
It can go anywhere. It is reliable. The engine is good working order and doesn't leak fluids. I feel safe since the car is so spacious.
Cons
The windshield wipers have a bad relay, which means I have to turn them off the in down position. Otherwise, they stay in whatever position they are in when you flip the switch.
