2002 Toyota 4Runner Owner Ratings & Reviews

2002 Toyota 4Runner - Rav4 review.
I love this car! I brought this car two years ago from my aunt, and ever since then, it has been reliable and sturdy for the most part. It is around $20-$25 for a full tank, so it doesn't hit the wallet heavy. I like the way it drives. It is a great ride through and through. It has lots of space for groceries and enough leg room for passengers. The only thing I dislike about it is that it's a bit dated. The radio plays tapes and CDs but doesn't have an aux. I know I'm nitpicking, but hey, I'm 27, and I like to listen to music from my phone. But it's easily fixed by buying the tape aux which is like $3 so no worries. Another thing I like about my car is that it has a good heating and A/C system. The car get warm/cold quick enough that I don't either freeze and die from the heat (I live ... (more)
Story
One memory is when I drove to my daughter's school to pick her up for the first time. We were so used to walking to school or riding the bus (when the weather was bad). So when I picked her up, I never saw such a smile on her face before. Another moment was going to beach, but this time, I was the one driving instead of my family or friends and boy it felt good!
Pros
My favorite feature about this car is the reliability. Every day I wake up, and I don't have to worry if it's going to stall on me or not. Also, I love the cheap gas -- $20 to fill the car. That's a no-brainier.
Cons
The only thing I dislike about this vehicle is it feels a bit dated, and that is because it's from 2002. So, of course, it feels dated. But, compared to the newer cars that are out there, it makes me feel like I'm 57 instead of 27. But other than that, I love this car.
2002 Toyota 4Runner - Best car.
This car is the best car I have ever owned. It has over 200,000 miles on it and is still running strong. It is able to tolerate a variety of climates and runs smoothly. The materials inside have held up over time. There has been some cracking of the plastic on the center console, but the car is 16 years old so that kind of wear is expected. Even though the wear is expected, the car still looks better than many other 16 year old cars. Fuel economy is not amazing but it is not the worst ever either. I love the fact that the car is big enough to transport a Christmas tree. We don't own a pickup truck and I hate tying one to the roof so it is nice to be able to put the seats down and transport the tree each year.
Story
Senior year of high school (8 years ago) we had a camp-out where everyone brought tents and camped out in the school parking lot. Instead of bringing a tent, my best friend and I brought blankets and pillows and camped in the back of the car with the seats down. We slept the best out of everyone there.
Pros
This car has lasted so long, even with so many miles on it. I love that I know it will be reliable and get me from point a to point b. The car is comfortable, attractive, and I still often have people ask to buy the car from me, even though it is 16 years old and has 200,000+ miles on it.
Cons
Most issues have been minor things. The clock stopped working and I never bothered to fix it and the unlock clicker on the keys also stopped working and it was expensive to replace. I have really only noticed that some of the exterior paint, etc. has started to have wear and tear and I would guess that is because I have moved to a climate where they often salt the roads. The main downside is that I do not have four-wheel drive and instead have rear-wheel drive. This makes it impossible to drive in winter weather.
