2008 Suzuki Grand Vitara - Reliable and spacious car but poor gas mileage

Reliable vehicle overall and good for the price but the mileage is poor. The power was also fairly low given that it's a v6, but it drove well on some off road trips and ran great in the snow.
Story
A recent memorable event I had with the car was taking it off roading in the mountains.
Pros
Chain instead of a timing belt so lower overall costs for repairs and the car could fit a lot of cargo. Also drove great in the snow.
Cons
Gas mileage is really poor. Windshield also got frequent cracks.
