I love my Outback. It performs well in the snow, even on really steep hills. It also has an abundance of trunk space. The car is very reliable, and while it doesn't get up to speed very quickly, it runs well, despite having 180,000+ miles on it.
Story
I enjoyed taking the car to the drive-in movies and laying in the back, bringing out some snacks and getting to watch the move in comfort.
Pros
I love the amount of storage space. I'm a musician, and I've fit two tubas, a cello and a euphonium in my car with two people and it all fit perfectly well. I also love that the car is relatively low to the ground without scraping on speed bumps. I'm a very short person (4'11"), and I can easily get in and out and see above the steering wheel, which isn't something I can say for most vehicles. I also love that there is a little pop-out cup holder on the front near the radio. Not sure why but I love it.
Cons
The car is very finicky about the air filter, it needs to be cleaned yearly. I have had to do some maintenance on it, but the car usually gives indicators before anything goes too wrong. It does get rust damage pretty easily.

I love my 2005 Subaru Outback 2.5 XT. It serves my needs of comfort, utility and practicality. The car is nearly indestructible, and where it isn't it has proven to be easy to service myself. I love that despite being more than 10 years old, it still seems fresh. It has many features that were luxury items when the car was new, but is above many cars that are new today. It also has an all-wheel drive system that is FAR more capable than most other cars with similar systems.
Story
I love going to the beach in my station wagon. I always get looks from people when I show up with my kids and they have gobs of stuff in the back to take with them for a day on the beach. It would be difficult to accomodate this much stuff in an ordinary sedan.
Pros
The car is incredibly reliable. Where things have gone wrong on the car, it has been relatively cheap and easy to repair. It also is incredibly capable in all weather.
Cons
The gas mileage is definitely a drawback. The fact that this car has a more powerful motor and all-wheel drive make it use more gas. The only other drawback is the aging electronics in the car. Since it is older it does not have any phone integration capability, making answering phone calls while on the road feel like you're in the stone age (and in most states illegal, without expensive accessories).
