2008 Subaru Outback - I love having a wagon that's AWD and affordable

I originally bought this car because I was looking for a wagon and AWD. The most obvious choice was the Outback. Affordability was a big factor. If I could afford an Audi All Road, I may have gone that way. I am also a fan of the Horizontally Opposed engine layout as I think it contributes to a much smoother ride by cancelling out vibrations. The other factor that influenced my decision is the fact that I see them everywhere. My Outback has 130k+ miles on it and still going strong. It's still a good work horse that has helped me in four moves throughout my ownership and could take more. I would buy it again, but with a better transmission as it can be a bit clunky at times. I would prefer a bit more pick-up for passing on the highway, but once it gets up there, it's a smooth high-speed... (more)
Story
The most memorable moment so far is the first Christmas tree I brought home was so easy to put on and take off.
Pros
AWD. Easy maintenance. Affordable. Simple - no lane departure or other driving interference. Smooth highway performance. 130,000 miles and still going.
Cons
Clunky transmission. Lacks sufficient acceleration for highway passing/merging.

2002 Subaru Outback - Dependable starter car.

This car gets me where I need to be reliably. While it has some scrapes and scratches from being pre-owned, it runs alright. Sometimes parts of the car breaks, and the check engine light is always on even though nothing is wrong. I can normally fix the minor issues with Google and only had to take the car to a shop twice to be fixed. It's great for me to have this car, as it's not too pricy to maintain. It fits me...a college student out on her own for the first time, perfectly.
Story
There's a drive-in theater by my house which my friends and I went to last summer. We took my car, and once there, opened up the back hatch and were all able to watch the movie comfortably. We hid some snacks under a blanket in the back seat and all had a great time!
Pros
It's very reliable and doesn't require too much upkeep. It can fit a lot in it as well, which allows me to help my friends move. I really like my car, and it feels very comfortable to me. I like that the "image" of the car is one that's slightly rugged and not very posh.
Cons
I do have to fix minor aspects of the car every so often. Also, at this point, my car has a ton of miles on it and perhaps won't last too much longer. The car has body damage on it from the previous owner, and it's radio no longer works. I definitely need to get my brakes replaced.
