I got a 2004 Subaru wagon new from a dealer. I was going to get navy blue, but ended up with green over gold. I actually prefer this color since it doesn't show the dirt. This car is amazing in the snow, goes anywhere. Too bad I have spent over $7000 in the last year and a half!
Story
We were on the road going to a dog agility trial. It was an overnight trip and I was vending at the trial also. So the thing was Stuffed Full, including three dogs. We were on the road when it started making all kinds of noise. We were lucky enough to be close to a dealer who had a loaner. We managed to get everything in the loaner, including the dogs, and weren't too late for the trial..
Pros
Drives nice. It has heated seats which are great in the winter. It handles amazing in the snow. Especially with the roof rack, I can carry quite a good amount of stuff, including the three dogs in the back. Oh, the rubber mat with the ridge in the back? Amazing! Holds most of the muck the dogs drag into the car.
Cons
Towing. It doesn't. I would love to be able to tow some type of trailer. All it can handle is a tent. no, not a tent trailer, just dragging a tent behind. Repair costs. we struggled a year and a half ago when told we needed a new engine. It would still be cheaper than buying a new vehicle, so we went for it. since then, we have put another several thousand dollars into it. our 15-year-old truck has cost so much less. Back to Toyota I go for my next vehicle.

I like my Outback, it is a car that is good at pretty much everything. It is smaller and more gas efficient than a full size SUV, while providing many of the same capabilities. The car has shown to be extremely reliable despite having nearly 200,000 miles on it. Most electronic components still work and little maintenance has been needed.
Story
I was able to easily drive up hills and areas that were covered in snow and ice while seeing people in other cars and trucks unable to get up
Pros
Full time all wheel drive, 6 cylinder boxer engine, symmetrical drive shaft all add up to great traction control. Leather seats and large amount of options on the LL Bean trim. Towing kit
Cons
Stereo does not have an aux port. Annoying to have to burn music to CDs nowadays when everything is kept on a phone or iPod. The transmission shifting is very rough compared to most cars. Sometimes you can feel and hear it clunk as it shifts, and it can feel like the transmission is trying to kill itself. It feels like something is wrong, but I've had it checked by a couple people and they say it is working fine and that shifting like that is normal for that model ABS in this car is extremely spastic when driving in snow, it might engage when stopping from a speed of 10mph
