Being that my previous 2005 Subaru had over 125,000 miles on it and was beginning to experience some wear and tear, it was time for a new car. 0.9% financing made the purchase of a new Subaru very attractive to me. The previous Subaru had treated me very well over the previous six years and I wanted to continue that trend.
Story
This car can fit a lot of cargo. We went a little overboard during an IKEA trip and loaded the car as much as possible so much so that my husband ended up sitting in the middle seat crammed against my daughter's car seat on the ride home.
Pros
I knew going into the process that I wanted a car with a decent sound system that I wasn't going to have to replace in order to meet my standards. I also knew that I wanted Bluetooth connectivity, a moon roof as well as heated leather seats. I didn't care about navigation as I can handle that with my phone and a car mount. The trim/package I selected (2.5i Limited) had everything I wanted so there was no haggling. The car has improved gas mileage over previous years and the new CVT Transmission was very exciting to me. The newer Subaru models feel like luxury cars at a fraction of the pric... (more)
Cons
Color - I chose graphite gray because I loved it. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that shade of gray would not be ideal for the area I live in - which is gray and rainy 9 months out of the year... so the car is the same color as the road. If I were purchasing again (and I intend to), I would purchase a different, more visible color. Lack of a power lift gate in this model - Subaru was late to the game in adding a power lift gate to their vehicles. The newer models have it and as a mom with small kids, it would be helpful. I wish I had a remote start option, but not enough to bother with ge... (more)

I have a 2013 Subaru Outback. I love the safety and comfort this car affords me. As far as styling goes, I have loved the station wagon-like design, since it's introduction into the marketplace. Over the years I have watched the design evolve and improve. Finally, it was time to replace our family car. I would accept nothing but the Outback. We can comfortably travel from the mountains to the city, and out of town with our two large dogs, and two children. There is room enough for the girls to feel as though they have their own space, and for the two of us to stretch our legs in the front at the same time. The seats are a perfect fit. I don't seem to get numb bottom syndrome, like I did in the Blazer. Our doggies do not hesitate to jump in the back whenever we open the hatch. That says... (more)
Story
We like to go off-road when camping. The out back can handle anything. A few days ago, we were climbing a narrow spot. We came nose-to-nose with a large truck; he was pulling a boat. We had to back down the washed out, uneven, dirt path. All four of us held our breath. My husband pulled it off like a professional!
Pros
My favorite features are the manual option, the ease of the rear wiper control, the option for a trailer hitch, and I have loved the all-weather tires that came with the car, they perform like expensive snow tires.
Cons
I am not very impressed with the initial get up and go at red lights and stop signs. We live off of an interstate, in a very rural area, a bend in the road blocks optimal views of oncoming traffic in one direction. Sometimes it's very daunting task to pick the right moment to accelerate. We often have to use the Outback on our property. I do not care much for the seat belt alert. I wish we could turn that thing off, I'm an adult. I buckle up when on the road.
